Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starrer Stree 2 has proven to be a juggernaut at the box office with its blockbuster success.
Stree 2 was theatrically released worldwide on 15 August 2024 and received positive reviews from critics. The film has grossed over ₹500 crores at the box office according the makers.
Stree 2 is based on the story the town of Chanderi is being haunted again. This time, women are mysteriously abducted by a terrifying headless entity. Once again, it’s up to Vicky (Rajkummar Rao) and his friends to save their town and loved ones.
When the first instalment of the film was released in 2018, ‘Vicky’ was a breakthrough role for Rajkummar Rao. However, this was only possible after Vicky Kaushal rejected the film. Vicky Kaushal was offered the horror-comedy before Rajkummar Rao, but he turned it down to do Manmarziyaan. The Story of Stree 2018
In the eerie townscape of Chanderi, dressmaker Vicky falls for a mysterious woman with a supernatural aura. His heart sinks at the possibility that she might be Stree, the resentful “man-hunter”
In an earlier appearance on Vogue BFFs, Vicky Kaushal was asked to name a film he rejected but regrets losing out on as it became quite big. He said, “Stree, that was because I was doing Manmarziyaan.” While Vicky Kaushal was massively praised for his blue-hair look and performance in the film, Manmarziyaan did not perform well at the box office. Meanwhile, Stree became a game-changer for Rajkummar Rao.
It happens, there have been hundreds of times when actors regret their decision of not to do blockbusters.
