Working in the Allahabad High Court remained paralysed on the second consecutive day on Thursday, as the lawyers, on a call given by the Allahabad High Court Bar Association (HCBA) abstained from judicial work in order to highlight certain problems being faced by them. The HCBA has also resolved to continue to boycott the judicial work on Friday (July 12).
Later, in a meeting of executive council of HCBA urged the lawyers not to use words like “My Lord or Your Lordship” in the court and rather use “Sir, Your honour or Manniya” in its place. According to HCBA, this resolution is in tune with the opinion of chief justice of India (CJI), who in a recent meeting advised that ‘Judges of the country should not treat themselves as God”.
According to HCBA, this new practice will strengthen the idea that high court is not a temple of justice and rather it is a court of justice and judges are also public servants.
This meeting of HCBA was presided over by its president Anil Tiwari and conducted by secretary Vikrant Pandey.
The HCBA warned that membership of those lawyers will be terminated who have flouted the mandate of the bar association and have argued their cases physically or through video conferencing.
