Yogi Adityanath Orders Seamless Paddy Procurement & Faster Payments, Major Relief for Farmers Across Uttar Pradesh
In a decisive move aimed at supporting farmers and ensuring smooth paddy procurement, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday instructed officials to guarantee that every farmer arriving at procurement centres can sell their produce without any hassle and receive timely direct payments into their bank accounts.
The directive has come as a significant relief to farmers across the state amid the ongoing procurement season.
During a review meeting on paddy procurement progress, officials informed the Chief Minister that the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy this year has been increased by ₹69 per quintal—now standing at ₹2,369 for common paddy and ₹2,389 for Grade-A variety.
Currently, 4,227 procurement centres are operational across Uttar Pradesh. Adityanath instructed that the number of centres be expanded to 5,000 to ensure easier access for farmers in rural and semi-urban regions.
Procurement Status and Payments
Officials reported that as of November 30, the state has procured 9.02 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from 1,51,030 farmers, and over ₹1,984 crore has already been transferred directly into farmers’ bank accounts—reflecting the government’s commitment to transparency and speed.
Ensuring Smooth Operations
Adityanath emphasised the need to eliminate crowding at centres and ensure no farmer is turned back without support.
He directed officials to increase manpower wherever required and simplify the processes of paddy lifting, mill mapping, and logistics to maintain continuous procurement.
Fortified Rice Supply & Public Welfare
Reviewing the supply of fortified rice for mid-day meal schemes and Anganwadi centres, the Chief Minister ordered uninterrupted distribution and instructed officials to resolve technical issues promptly while increasing vendor numbers to maintain a steady FRK (fortified rice kernel) supply.
Officials shared that 2,130 metric tonnes of FRK have successfully cleared quality checks.
Focus on Fertilisers & Seeds
Adityanath further reviewed the availability of fertilisers and seeds and ordered that no district should face shortages.
He stressed constant monitoring of stock levels to ensure easy and timely access for the farming community.
With these measures, the state government has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding farmers’ interests and ensuring a fair, accessible, and efficient procurement system.
