Lok Sabha polls: Rajnath holds massive roadshow in Lucknow before filing nomination

Lucknow: Union Defence Minister and sitting Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Lucknow Rajnath Singh filed his nomination papers for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Lucknow seat on Monday. Rajnath Singh held a massive road show before filing the nomination papers.
He was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath and Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, deputy CMs Brijesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya. The fifth phase of elections is scheduled for May 20. In 2019, Rajnath Singh won by nearly 6.3 lakh votes over Samajwadi Party Poonam Shatrughan Sinha.
Similarly, Union minister of state for Housing and Urban Affairs and sitting MP from Mohanlalganj Kaushal Kishore also filed his nomination papers here on Monday.
Before filing of nomination papers, Rajnath Singh also held a two-kilometer roadshow in the city and visited and offered prayers at Dakshin Mukhi Hanuman Temple in Lucknow.
Praising the Defence Minister over the pace of development in Lucknow, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the work started under former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been taken forward by Rajnath Singh.
On this occasion talking to reporters, Deputy CM said, I.N.D.I.A alliance would be finished in this general elections.
Due to the massive road show in which thousands of BJP workers participated, traffic was halted that created traffic chaos in Hazratganj, traffic police personnel were helpless to clear the traffic. Seeing the situation getting worse, CM Yogi Adityanath took the public addressing system in his hand and helped to clear the traffic.
Rajnath Singh will face Samajwadi Party candidate Ravidas Mehrotra from this seat.
