AI Impact Summit 2026: PM Modi Meets European Leaders, Hails India–Europe FTA as the Dawn of a Golden Era

 

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday described the recently concluded Free Trade Agreement between India and Europe as the beginning of a “golden era” in bilateral relations.

His remarks came after separate meetings with the heads of state of Spain, Finland, Croatia, and Serbia on the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit 2026.

In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi stated that his discussions with Spanish President Pedro Sánchez focused extensively on strengthening cooperation in the areas of defence, security, and technology.

He noted that 2026 is a significant year for both countries, marking a dedicated year for culture, tourism, and artificial intelligence.

A delegation representing several Spanish universities is participating in the summit, underscoring the growing academic and technological collaboration between the two nations.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the people of India and Spain will emerge as a strong and enduring bridge in the years ahead.

He reaffirmed his commitment to making every possible effort to elevate bilateral ties to new heights.

Following his meeting with Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, Prime Minister Modi highlighted that India and Finland are aiming to double their bilateral trade.

The two leaders held detailed discussions on expanding economic cooperation and deepening engagement in future-oriented technologies.

Key areas of focus included 6G technology, innovation, clean energy, biofuels, and other strategic sectors.
