A thief scaled the drainage pipe to enter Marathi film director Swapna Joshi’s house on the sixth floor in a building at Andheri in Bombay in the early morning hours of August 25 and stole Rs. 6,000. He could have done far more damage had it not been for the pet cat which sprung to its feet and moved towards Swapna’s son-in-law who was sleeping with his wife (Swapna’s daughter), alerting him. Son-in-law Deven spotted the thief and hurried to nab him but the young thief ran towards the window from which he had entered the house and slid back down the drainage pipe. A police complaint was filed by the filmmaker.
