CM Yogi Aditya Nath particular about safety and security during Mahakumbh
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed officials overseeing the security arrangements for the Maha Kumbh to address any potential vulnerabilities, ensuring the safe and smooth execution of the world’s largest religious gathering.
The month-long event, anticipated to draw an immense crowd of approximately 45 crore devotees, has led to comprehensive security measures, including the installation of drones and over 2,750 CCTV cameras to monitor every corner of the expansive Maha Kumbh area, sources revealed.
Officials stated that drones are providing extensive aerial surveillance in preparation for next year’s event. Equipped with advanced technology, these drones can capture high-resolution images, videos, and sensor data, leaving no part of the Maha Kumbh Nagar unobserved.
Scheduled to take place in Prayagraj from January 13 to February 26, the Maha Kumbh, held every 12 years, has implemented state-of-the-art security measures to safeguard attendees. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajesh Dwivedi has assembled a specialized team to oversee drone operations, underscoring their critical role in ensuring safety.
Describing the drones as a “unique and advanced security tool,” Dwivedi emphasized their ability to swiftly shift to alert mode. “The tethered drones’ secure data transmission captures even the smallest details, making them a cornerstone of the hi-tech security framework,” he said. Acting as the police’s “third eye,” these drones provide continuous surveillance of key areas such as the Sangam bank, ghats, temples, and other significant locations.
Strategically positioned at fixed heights using ropes tied to large balloons, these drones are mounted on high towers across the Mela area. Their elevated vantage point allows for uninterrupted monitoring without frequent adjustments, ensuring seamless surveillance.
With real-time footage transmitted to the control room, these drones help identify overcrowded areas and facilitate immediate police deployment. They also play a vital role in detecting suspicious activities from a distance, enhancing overall security.
In addition to drones, over 2,750 CCTV cameras—many equipped with Artificial Intelligence capabilities—have been deployed to monitor the sprawling venue, Dwivedi confirmed.
The SSP added that the Maha Kumbh is expected to host over 45 crore devotees, making these advanced security measures indispensable.
