Interstate ‘White-Collar’ Terror Network Exposed; Huge Explosive Haul Triggers National Alert
In a massive counter-terror breakthrough, security forces have uncovered what officials describe as one of the most sophisticated “white-collar” terror networks seen in recent years.
Working jointly, the Jammu & Kashmir Police and Haryana Police dismantled an alleged interstate terror module linked to banned outfits and recovered more than 2,900 kg of suspected ammonium nitrate — a chemical commonly used in making high-intensity explosives.
The raids, carried out in Faridabad and other locations, also led to the seizure of an assault rifle, ammunition, detonators, timers, remote-control devices, wireless sets, and circuitry — material that investigators say could have been used to build hundreds of powerful IEDs, possibly to target the national capital and other high-security zones.
Officials revealed that the individuals arrested include medical professionals associated with a Faridabad medical college — a shocking development that points to highly educated operatives allegedly embedded in society with academic and professional cover.
Doctors, Imam Held; Huge Arsenal, Suitcases of Explosives Seized
Among those arrested is Dr Muzammil Shakeel, from whose rented Faridabad accommodation police recovered multiple suitcases packed with ammonium nitrate.
A Krinkov-style assault rifle and ammunition were found in a car belonging to another doctor, identified as Dr Shaheen from Lucknow, which was reportedly being used by Shakeel.
Another medico, Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather, had earlier been arrested in UP’s Saharanpur in a related probe after posters supporting Jaish-e-Mohammed appeared in Srinagar.
Police also arrested a local imam, Ishtiyaq, who was allegedly in close contact with Muzammil.
The seized items include:
- 2,900+ kg suspected ammonium nitrate
- Assault rifle with multiple magazines
- Pistols & live rounds
- Timers, batteries, remote controls
- Wired circuits & walkie-talkies
- Metal fragments for shrapnel devices
- Multiple suitcases used for concealment
Security sources say this is one of the biggest explosive recoveries linked to Kashmir-based terror networks in recent memory.
Radicalised Professionals, Foreign Links, Secret Channels
According to investigators, the network relied on educated professionals and students to avoid detection, moving funds through academic and social fronts, using encrypted communication, and receiving instructions from handlers overseas.
Authorities allege that suspects were involved in:
- Radicalisation & recruitment
- Fund collection under professional fronts
- Logistics & safe-house support
- Procurement & storage of explosives
- Arranging arms and communication tools
Police say the group had plans aligned with JeM and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, with more arrests expected.
A Wake-Up Call for the Nation
Security experts and civil society voices are calling this case a serious reminder that modern terrorism is no longer only about remote hideouts or isolated cells — it can hide in plain sight, behind degrees, respectable professions, and routine life.
As India rises on the global stage, hostile forces abroad — and their enablers within — may attempt to destabilise the nation using covert networks and sleeper cells.
The alleged involvement of a woman doctor from a reputed city like Lucknow underlines a disturbing trend: radicalisation can target anyone, anywhere, and is not confined to stereotypes.
A Responsible Civic Duty: Awareness, Not Panic
Prominent social voices urge citizens to:
- Stay aware of unusual activities in surroundings
- Report concerns only after proper observation and verification
- Cooperate with law enforcement — never take the law into one’s own hands
- Encourage community harmony but stay vigilant against extremist influences
This is a call for alertness, not fear, and for unity against threats that aim to weaken the country from inside.
Security agencies say investigations are ongoing and further arrests are likely as the network is traced across cities and states.
