Israel releases name of seventeen militants killed the other day in strike
Even as war continues, an Israeli air strike hit a UN run school compound in Northern Gaza killing three people according to Palestinian emergency officials, a day after a similar air strike on a school in Gaza centre killed at least 33 persons.
In both air strikes, the Israeli army said Hamas militants were operating from within the schools, said Associated press which could not verify claims.
Israel on Friday released the names of 17 militants , it said were killed in Thursday’s strike. However, only nine of them matched with the records of the dead from the hospital morgue.
One of the alleged militants was an eight year old boy, according to hospital records.
Meanwhile, international pressure is mounting on Israel to limit civilian blood shed in the war in Gaza, which completed its eighth month on Friday. Seeking a breakthrough in the apparently ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas, US secretary of state Antony Blinken will return to the Middle east next week, writes the Associated Press.
On the other hand, at the united nations Israel and Hamas both are set to be listed as violating the rights and protection of children in the ongoing armed conflict , in an upcoming annual report to the Security Council. Israel has reacted with public outrage after being informed Friday about designation, according to AP
