Manu Bhakar Will Live For Ever In The Hearts Of Indians
Manu Bhakar will live forever in the hearts of Indians not just in the history of the Olympics in the form of a thick pictorial book. Let it sink in. Independent India had never seen it.
This generation will pass on the grand feat Manu created to the next. And this process would go on.
And you know why this would happen… It’s because close on the heels of one medal in 10-metre pistol shooting. Hold on…. she went on to grab another one. This is what has made her great.. unforgettable
After opening the Indian account by winning a bronze medal her pistol went on to spew another win along with Sarabjot Singh another Indian in the team event.
So, Manu has become the first Indian to win two medals in Olympic history.
In 1900 Norman Prichard, an Indo-British athlete born in Kolkata won two bronze in 200 metre and hurdle races in the same category.
At 15 she had won the national title and broken the record. Thereafter, there was no looking back. She won at the Commonwealth Games. Her efforts had taken a bruising at the Tokyo Olympics. But she was well acquainted with the art of going ahead.
Do your Karma and leave the rest to the powers that be, feels Manu.
The first bronze brought happiness to her face but the second one elevated her to a new level. She had nailed shot after shot under the most intense pressure.
Other countries take to pool and gym but India has done it in the open.
Two bronzes, together, giving off a hue that would make even gold envious.
