According to police reports, the hotel staff became suspicious when Ankit did not request any services on Tuesday afternoon or night. Upon opening the room, authorities discovered a half-filled soda bottle and two empty wrappers of rat poison, confirming suspicions that Ankit had died by suicide.

In the handwritten note, Ankit directly accused two individuals—Amit and Vijay, both from Prayagraj—of being responsible for his death. According to the note, these two men had borrowed ₹70 lakh from him but had been refusing to return the money.
Ankit mentioned in the note that this financial betrayal had severely affected his medicine business, leaving him in distress. He expressed feeling helpless and harassed due to the dishonest actions of Amit and Vijay, which ultimately pushed him to take the extreme step. The note explicitly stated that these two men were solely responsible for his death.

Ankit had checked into room number 104 of Raj Kamal Palace Hotel on March 10 as part of his routine business visits to Varanasi.
