NIA awards life imprisonment on religious conversion issue

Lucknow :The NIA court has awarded life imprisonment to twelve persons involved in religious conversions in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

Thespecial NIA Judge Vivekanand Sharan Tripathi also imposed fine of Rs 1.5 lakh on each of the accused Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui, Mohd Umar Gautam including twelve others.
In the same case the court awarded  ten year imprisonment to Mohammad Saleem, Rahul, Bhola, Mannu Yadav, Kunal and Ashok. The court slammed a fine of Rs one lakh on each one of them.
This is the first case in which sixteen persons have been convicted on charges of religious conversion.
The court had found them guilty on tuesday  but pronounced it’s judgment against them on Wednesday.
The ATS had filed chargesheets against these convicts on June 20, 2021.
Twenty four persons appeared in the court to give their testimony in this case.
There were only five persons from the defendants side.
The verdict runs into 24 pages.
