Prime Minister Modi Holds High-Level Review After Operation Sindoor, Emphasizes Coordination, Infrastructure Security, and National Resilience
A day after the successful execution of Operation Sindoor—a decisive military response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam—Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a high-level strategy meeting with top government officials to assess institutional readiness, reinforce national security protocols, and review the preparedness of critical ministries.
The meeting, held at the Prime Minister’s Office, was attended by Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba, senior aides from the PMO, and Secretaries of several key ministries, including Defence, Home Affairs, External Affairs, Health, Power, Telecommunications, and Information & Broadcasting.
The objective was to ensure seamless inter-ministerial cooperation and to bolster civil and strategic infrastructure during what is being described as a particularly sensitive and high-alert period for national security.
Focus on Continuity, Security, and Communication
During the extensive discussions, Prime Minister Modi called for a unified, whole-of-government approach to maintain operational continuity across ministries and to uphold institutional resilience in the face of any external or internal disruptions.
Emphasizing the importance of seamless coordination, Modi instructed Secretaries to work in close collaboration, not just across departments, but also with state governments, local authorities, and ground-level institutions to ensure the timely implementation of directives and the uninterrupted functioning of key public systems.
One of the central themes of the meeting was the need for robust civil defence measures, especially in urban and border areas.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of reviewing emergency response protocols, fine-tuning internal communication systems, and ensuring real-time information flow across relevant departments.
He urged ministries to be fully prepared to deal with any contingency scenarios, including cyber threats, misinformation campaigns, sabotage, or infrastructure disruption.
Combating Misinformation and Securing Infrastructure
In light of ongoing geopolitical tensions and the increasing use of digital platforms by adversarial forces, countering misinformation and fake news was identified as a priority area.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Ministry of Home Affairs were specifically tasked with enhancing their monitoring capabilities and rapidly countering disinformation designed to mislead the public or create unrest.
Equally emphasized was the protection of critical infrastructure, such as power grids, health systems, transportation networks, telecom lines, and data centers.
Modi directed the Ministries of Power and Telecommunications to undertake detailed risk assessments and ensure the “fool-proof functioning” of these essential services. Departments were asked to initiate security audits to identify vulnerabilities and prepare contingency plans for swift restoration of services in case of any disruptions.
“Whole-of-Government” Approach Adopted
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, all participating ministries were instructed to carry out a comprehensive review of their internal operations, focusing on both day-to-day functionality and emergency responsiveness.
Secretaries detailed their readiness plans, reflecting what the PMO described as a “whole-of-government approach” that prioritizes unity, preparedness, and continuity of service delivery.
Prime Minister Modi urged officials to maintain a high level of alertness, especially in departments dealing with public security, defense coordination, and international communication.
He called for institutional synergy and stressed the importance of clear, direct communication channels, both within the government and to the general public, in order to minimize confusion and panic during times of national stress.
PM Reaffirms Commitment to National Security
In his concluding remarks, the Prime Minister reaffirmed his government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring national security, safeguarding citizen well-being, and maintaining the integrity of public institutions.
“The coming days will require focus, discipline, and unity. We must uphold our operational preparedness and remain resilient against all challenges,” Modi was quoted as saying.
All-Party Meeting Reiterates Political Unity
In parallel to the administrative review, an all-party meeting was also convened on Thursday to brief political leaders from across the spectrum about the objectives and outcomes of Operation Sindoor.
The meeting saw a rare show of political unity, with leaders from both the ruling coalition and opposition parties expressing strong support for the armed forces and the government’s resolute actions.
Sources said the Prime Minister’s absence at the all-party briefing—chaired instead by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh—was due to his engagement with the inter-ministerial coordination meeting.
Nevertheless, his presence at the strategic session with Secretaries underlined the importance he places on behind-the-scenes coordination and governance during moments of national importance.
