Sonia Gandhi strikes emotional chord at Raibareily election rally.
Former congress president Sonia Gandhi made emotional appeal to the voters of Raibareily for the victory of her son Rahul from this prestigious constituency which for long had been congress’ bastion.
Striking emotional chord Sonia said people of Raibareily and Amethi are family to me.
I call upon you to shower the same affection and blessings on my son Rahul as you did to me, urged Sonia saying, I am handing over my son to you and on his part, I assure you that Rahul would not let you down.
“My head bows down in reverence before you all as you gave me the chance to serve you for twenty long years. My lap has been filled with your love and blessings all my life. It has been because of your love and affection that I never felt alone, said Sonia in an emotion choked voice. This has been my greatest asset. I carry so many tender memories of people of this place in my heart .
While recalling her family’s hundred year old relations with the people of this place she said development of both Raibareily and Amethi would be given equal importance.
Rahul also repeated what his mother spoke on the development of the area.
On the other hand national Samajwadi party president Akhilesh Yadav in a counter attack to PM Modi’s use of word ‘khatakhat’ in his recent speech at Fatehpur against him and Rahul said, ab janta ense kah rahi hai aapko hata denge fatafat, fatafat.
On her part Rahul’s sister congress general secretary, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, farmers, labourers and youth have been feeling much harassed during past ten years.
Rahul Gandhi while urging voters to support Kishori Kal Sharma contesting from Amethi, said, he belongs to Amethi and will always be with the people of this place.
Recalling his first visit to Amethi with his late father Rajiv Gandhi while he was 12, he remembers the bond between his father and the people of this place. In a bid to answering people as to why he chose nearby Raibareily instead of Amethi to contest he said, “main Amethi ka hun, Amethi ka thha aur Amethi ka rahunga”.
Embracing Kishori Lal at the rally Rahul said, your candidate is a humble man carrying no ego while seeking votes for him.
He will raise your issues in the parliament and work hard for the region.
Using the opportunity to take a dig at PM Modi, he promised to keep the constitution safe by waving a copy of it.
