Modi Links Dussehra Message to Nation-Building, Urges Indians to Protect Cultural Identity

NEW DELHI: Invoking the ideals associated with Lord Ram, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday made a pitch for national solidarity, cultural preservation and a renewed commitment to India’s development goals during Vijayadashami celebrations at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan.

The Prime Minister used the occasion to underline what he described as the need to protect India’s national dignity and civilisational traditions.

He called upon citizens to remain alert to attempts to weaken the country’s standing, foster divisions among communities or encourage hostility towards its cultural heritage.

Rather than viewing Dussehra merely as a religious celebration, Modi presented its significance in terms of the broader struggle between righteousness and wrongdoing.

He said the festival offered a lasting lesson in perseverance, maintaining that even formidable challenges could be overcome through faith in truth and humanity.

Political differences must not overshadow national interests, Modi argued, drawing attention to the importance of cooperation among political parties and institutions.

Referring to an ancient Sanskrit invocation for harmony in thought and collective deliberation, he said a shared national purpose should guide decision-making on matters affecting the country.

He urged people to make the occasion an opportunity to reaffirm their commitment to India.

In his address, he placed particular emphasis on resisting forces that, in his view, threaten national honour or seek to undermine the country’s cultural foundations.

He also invoked the principle of putting the nation first and referred to the idea of connecting devotion to Lord Ram with a wider commitment to national service.

Turning to India’s historical legacy, Modi said a country’s confidence and progress were closely linked to its ability to value its own heritage.

He highlighted efforts to recover antiquities that had left India over the centuries, stating that more than 650 ancient idols had been brought back during the previous 12 years.

The Prime Minister also cited international recognition of India’s heritage as evidence of growing efforts to preserve its cultural inheritance.

He cited Indian sites being added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List and Diwali’s inclusion on UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

He credited such developments to the collective determination of the country’s people and called for continued efforts to safeguard India’s historical legacy.

Modi suggested that lessons from the Ramayana remain relevant to the challenges of modern India.

Recalling the obstacles Lord Ram faced before reaching Lanka, he emphasised the role of determination, cooperation and the intelligent use of available resources in achieving difficult objectives.

He said the ability to bring people together around a common mission could turn seemingly unattainable goals into reality.

Confidence in one’s capabilities, efficient resource management and sustained dedication, he maintained, were essential to making progress.

Applying that message to India’s future, the Prime Minister identified the creation of a developed nation as a major national undertaking.

He called for a united effort to advance that ambition, linking the values represented by Vijayadashami with the country’s broader development journey.

दिल्ली के रामलीला मैदान में प्रधानमंत्री ने राष्ट्रीय एकजुटता, ऐतिहासिक धरोहरों की वापसी और विकसित भारत के लक्ष्य को लेकर सामूहिक प्रयासों की जरूरत बताई।

नई दिल्ली: प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने मंगलवार को दिल्ली के रामलीला मैदान में विजयादशमी समारोह के दौरान देश की सांस्कृतिक पहचान को सुरक्षित रखने और राष्ट्रीय विकास के लिए एकजुट होकर काम करने का संदेश दिया।

भगवान राम के आदर्शों का उल्लेख करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि देश की प्रतिष्ठा, परंपराओं और सामाजिक एकता की रक्षा करना प्रत्येक नागरिक की सामूहिक जिम्मेदारी है।

प्रधानमंत्री ने अपने संबोधन में उन प्रवृत्तियों के प्रति आगाह किया जो उनके अनुसार देश की गरिमा को नुकसान पहुंचाती हैं, समाज में विभाजन बढ़ाती हैं या भारतीय संस्कृति के प्रति वैमनस्य पैदा करती हैं। उन्होंने नागरिकों से ऐसे प्रयासों का मुकाबला करने और राष्ट्रीय हितों को प्राथमिकता देने का आह्वान किया।

मोदी ने दशहरे के महत्व को केवल धार्मिक आयोजन तक सीमित न रखते हुए इसे संघर्ष, साहस और दृढ़ विश्वास से जुड़ा संदेश बताया। उन्होंने कहा कि यह पर्व याद दिलाता है कि कठिन परिस्थितियों के बावजूद सत्य और मानवीय मूल्यों के प्रति प्रतिबद्धता बनाए रखना जरूरी है।

राष्ट्रीय विकास के संदर्भ में प्रधानमंत्री ने राजनीतिक दलों और संस्थाओं के बीच सहयोग की आवश्यकता पर जोर दिया। उन्होंने एक प्राचीन संस्कृत श्लोक के माध्यम से सामूहिक सोच और विचार-विमर्श में तालमेल का संदेश दिया। उनका कहना था कि देश से जुड़े महत्वपूर्ण मामलों में मतभेदों के बजाय साझा राष्ट्रीय उद्देश्य को महत्व मिलना चाहिए।

अपने भाषण में उन्होंने भारतीय संस्कृति और ऐतिहासिक विरासत के संरक्षण को भी प्रमुखता दी। मोदी ने कहा कि किसी राष्ट्र का आत्मविश्वास उसकी अपनी पहचान और इतिहास के प्रति सम्मान से जुड़ा होता है। इसी संदर्भ में उन्होंने विदेशों में पहुंच चुकी प्राचीन कलाकृतियों को भारत वापस लाने के प्रयासों का उल्लेख किया।

प्रधानमंत्री के मुताबिक, पिछले 12 वर्षों में 650 से अधिक प्राचीन मूर्तियां भारत लाई गई हैं। उन्होंने यूनेस्को की विश्व धरोहर सूची में भारतीय स्थलों को जगह मिलने और दीपावली को मानवता की अमूर्त सांस्कृतिक विरासत की सूची में शामिल किए जाने का भी जिक्र किया। उन्होंने इन उपलब्धियों को देश की सामूहिक इच्छाशक्ति से जोड़ते हुए विरासत संरक्षण के प्रयास लगातार जारी रखने की आवश्यकता बताई।

मोदी ने रामायण से मिलने वाली सीख को वर्तमान समय की चुनौतियों से जोड़ते हुए कहा कि बड़े लक्ष्य हासिल करने के लिए केवल इच्छाशक्ति ही नहीं, बल्कि लोगों का सहयोग और उपलब्ध संसाधनों का सही इस्तेमाल भी जरूरी है।

उन्होंने लंका तक पहुंचने में भगवान राम के सामने आई कठिनाइयों का उदाहरण दिया। प्रधानमंत्री के अनुसार, सामूहिक भागीदारी और लक्ष्य के प्रति अडिग संकल्प ने चुनौतीपूर्ण कार्य को संभव बनाया। उन्होंने कहा कि अपनी क्षमताओं पर भरोसा रखना, संसाधनों का विवेकपूर्ण उपयोग करना और उद्देश्य के प्रति निरंतर समर्पित रहना सफलता के महत्वपूर्ण आधार हैं।

प्रधानमंत्री ने इन सिद्धांतों को भारत की विकास यात्रा के लिए भी प्रासंगिक बताया। उन्होंने विकसित भारत के निर्माण को देश का महत्वपूर्ण लक्ष्य बताते हुए नागरिकों से एकजुटता, आत्मविश्वास और निरंतर प्रयासों के साथ इस दिशा में आगे बढ़ने की अपील की।
