MANDSAUR: A trivial childhood disagreement has ended in an appalling tragedy in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur district, where a four-year-old boy allegedly lost his life after being pushed into a rooftop water tank by a 12-year-old girl, according to police.
The incident, which occurred on October 26, has left the child’s family devastated.
What began as an ordinary day for the little boy turned into a desperate search when he suddenly disappeared. His parents, unable to locate him, approached the police, setting off a search operation across the neighbourhood.
The investigation eventually led officers to the rooftop of a neighbouring house. The child’s body was discovered inside a water tank, concealed beneath a heavy stone slab.
It had reportedly remained there for close to three hours before the girl’s father came across it. Police said he did not know of his daughter’s alleged involvement at the time.
The boy’s family had been living in a rented accommodation next to the house belonging to the girl’s uncle.
As part of the search, police asked residents to inspect their rooftops, water tanks and other possible locations where the missing child might have gone.
Officers also spoke to children living in the neighbourhood. During this process, the 12-year-old girl allegedly admitted to pushing the younger child into the tank and covering its opening with a stone slab.
Investigators believe the incident may have been preceded by an argument over a chocolate.
According to the police account, the girl had taken a chocolate from the boy, prompting his mother to reprimand her. The girl allegedly remained resentful over the incident for several days.
Police are examining whether this disagreement played a role in the subsequent events.
For the boy’s parents, however, the loss is beyond words. A child who should have been filling their home with laughter, questions, and innocent mischief is gone.
The family is now left to confront a devastating absence that no explanation or legal action can undo.
The case also raises disturbing questions about the emotional world of children and the consequences of unresolved anger. What could lead a 12-year-old to allegedly respond to a minor disagreement with such an extreme act?

An FIR was registered on October 28 under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act after the post-mortem examination supported the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
The girl was subsequently produced before a court and sent to a government-run juvenile home.
Further proceedings are being conducted under the legal framework applicable to children in conflict with the law. Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances of the boy’s death.

मंदसौर: मध्य प्रदेश के मंदसौर जिले में एक मामूली बाल सुलभ विवाद ने ऐसी दर्दनाक परिणति ली, जिसने पूरे इलाके को स्तब्ध कर दिया है। चार साल के एक मासूम बच्चे की मौत के मामले में पुलिस ने 12 वर्षीय एक बच्ची पर उसे छत पर बनी पानी की टंकी में धकेलने का आरोप लगाया है।
यह घटना 26 अक्टूबर की बताई गई है। घर से बच्चा अचानक लापता हुआ तो उसके माता-पिता की चिंता बढ़ गई। काफी तलाश के बाद भी जब उसका कोई सुराग नहीं मिला, तो उन्होंने पुलिस से संपर्क किया। इसके बाद पुलिस ने आसपास के इलाकों में तलाशी शुरू कराई और पड़ोसियों से भी अपने घरों की छतों तथा पानी की टंकियों की जांच करने को कहा।
तलाशी के दौरान पड़ोस के एक मकान की छत पर बनी पानी की टंकी से बच्चे का शव बरामद हुआ। पुलिस के अनुसार, शव को टंकी में डालने के बाद उसके मुंह को पत्थर की पटिया से ढक दिया गया था। करीब तीन घंटे बाद बच्ची के पिता की नजर टंकी पर पड़ी और उन्होंने शव देखा।
मृतक का परिवार बच्ची के घर के बगल में किराये के मकान में रहता था। संबंधित मकान बच्ची के चाचा का बताया गया है। पुलिस ने बच्चे की तलाश के दौरान आसपास रहने वाले लोगों से पूछताछ की और मोहल्ले के बच्चों से भी जानकारी जुटाई।
इसी पूछताछ के दौरान 12 वर्षीय बच्ची ने कथित तौर पर घटना में अपनी भूमिका स्वीकार की। पुलिस का कहना है कि उसने बच्चे को पानी की टंकी में धकेलने और उसके ऊपर पत्थर की पटिया रखने की बात बताई।
जांच में एक चॉकलेट को लेकर हुए पुराने विवाद की जानकारी सामने आई है। पुलिस के मुताबिक, बच्ची ने पहले बच्चे से चॉकलेट ले ली थी। इस बात पर बच्चे की मां ने उसे डांटा था।
आरोप है कि बच्ची इस घटना से कई दिनों तक नाराज रही। पुलिस अब यह पता लगाने में जुटी है कि क्या इसी नाराजगी ने बाद में इतनी गंभीर घटना का रूप ले लिया।

पुलिस के अनुसार, मामले में आगे की कानूनी कार्रवाई किशोर न्याय से संबंधित प्रावधानों के तहत की जा रही है। घटना के सभी पहलुओं की जांच जारी है।
