CBI on Sunday raided the house of Principal RG Kar Medical hospital Sandeep Ghosh in Kolkata in connection with financial irregularities.
The hospital is under the scanner of security agencies following the brutal rape and murder of a post graduate trainee doctor in a seminar hall on August 9.
The CBI team is also determined to uncover if any of the men belinging to the medical profession had any kind of involvement in the rape and murder besides the alleged financial and medicine scam going on at the hospital since long.
Besides, the principal the CBI is questioning fourteen other doctors including Ex Medical Superintendent and Vice Principal, Sanjay Vashisth.
All these doctors are alleged to be involved in financial irregularities at the Medical College in Kolkata.
Another CBI unit was searching residences and offices of those engaged in supplying materials, management and other things to the Medical College.
As per the latest inputs at the time of filing of this report, CBI was grilling the principal Sandeep Ghosh and ex-medical superintendent and vice principal Sanjay Vashisth.
The CBI team which had reached the residence of the principal with a large security force early Sunday morning had to wait for more than an hour before the gate was opened.
The gruesome rape and murder of the young doctor has sparked nationwide protests of doctors including citizens from all walks of life.
Businessmen, Students, Lawyers, Trade Unions, Women’s organizations, Social groups have been carrying out country-wide protests against this horrific incident that has stirred the nation and the judiciary.
The heinous crime attracted the attention of the Kolkata High Court which issued a suo moto notice to the West Bengal government.
This was followed by the Supreme Court also taking suo moto cognizance of this barbaric happening.
Now, the Chief Justice of India Justice DY Chandrachud is heading the bench with Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Misra.
The bench is closely monitoring the case while slamming the West Bengal government headed by Mamta Bannerjee which tried its best to cover up the case.
The CBI is also taking prompt and well calculated steps in order to uncover each and every aspect of financial bungling at the Medical College and the rape and murder of the young doctor.
The agency is also minutely looking into the possible involvement of others in the rape and murder as also the mob violence.
Sadly, the medical college itself has been accused of trying to cover up the case of rape and murder even when the victim doctor was working there with sincerity and dedication to the cause
