Nine persons were killed and at least twenty-three others were injured when a bus carrying them rammed into a truck in Maihar. Among the dead were six passengers from Jaunpur and three were from Pratapgarh.
The bus was heading for Nagpur from Jaunpur and was carrying passengers from Pratapgarh, Jaunpur, and Prayagraj. The accident took place near Khodhira village under Nadan Dehat police station.
The impact of the collision was so severe that the bus was completely damaged. As a result, a cutter had to be used to bring out the dead and the injured.
