Allahabad High Court stays arrest of Assistant Commissioner of Police Mohd Mohsin Khan in Sexual assault case

The Allahabad High Court on Thursday stayed the arrest of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mohd Mohsin Khan in a sexual harassment case.
A PhD scholar at IIT-Kanpur alleged that Khan sexually exploited her on the false pretext of marriage and deliberately concealed her marital status.
 Hearing a writ petition, a division bench comprising Justice Arvind Kumar Sangwan and Justice Mohd Azahar Husan Idrisi directed the state government to file a reply in this case. The court directed to list this case thereafter for the hearing.
It is recalled that on an instance of a PhD scholar at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, an FIR was lodged at Kalyanpur police station in Kanpur accusing Mohd Mohsin Khan, an assistant commissioner of police (ACP), also pursuing a PhD in criminology at the institute, of sexually exploiting her under the pretense of marrying her.
The victim, whose research focuses on cybercrime—a subject also studied by the accused—claimed their relationship began during their academic pursuits.
Mohsin Khan, posted at the Collectorgunj police circle of Kanpur Nagar allegedly promised to marry the victim but later she came to know that he is already married.
 Khan concealed his marital status and falsely promised marriage, according to the victim’s claims.
Khan has been charged with allegedly seeking sexual relations by employing deceitful means.
