Big relief to power consumers: State government decides not to increase tariff

Power consumers have something to regale about. There will be no hike in the power tariff. This news comes with a big relief to the state’s power consumers who feared a rise in their monthly budget.

 
The Uttar Pradesh government has decided not to increase the power tariff unlike in several other areas in the country.
So the government has decided on this policy for the fifth year in a row when the consumers will not feel burdened.
With this, the government has decided on a subsidy of 17575 crore.
The power regulatory authority has refused to accept the recommendation of power-producing companies to increase the tariff.
On their part, the companies had shown a deficit of 11203 crore and were pressing for an increase in the tariff.
Consumers will no longer have to pay Rs 50 for connections or disconnections.
Consumers with a three-kilowatt load will be permitted to have three-phase connections.
