Hanumant Katha Resonates Across Prayagraj: Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri Delivers Spiritual Reflections on Faith, Society, and Human Values
The sacred city of Prayagraj once again witnessed an atmosphere steeped in devotion as thousands of devotees gathered to attend the three-day Rashtra Hanumant Katha delivered by Bageshwar Dham Peethadheeshwar, Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri.
On the opening day of the discourse, the air seemed imbued with reverence, as chants of Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman echoed through the gathering, creating a spiritually uplifting ambience that reflected the deep-rooted traditions of Sanatan Dharma.
The event commenced with a grand Mangal Kalash Yatra from Jamuna Christian Inter College in Mutthiganj, where thousands of women, clad in yellow attire symbolising purity and auspiciousness, carried a sacred kalash on their heads.
The procession, moving through Gau Ghat, Ram Bhavan and Mansarovar crossing before culminating at the premises of Shri Patharchatti Ramlila Committee, embodied a vivid expression of faith, discipline, and cultural continuity.
Accompanied by traditional bands from Meerut, mounted participants, and artistically designed tableaux depicting spiritual themes, the yatra offered a captivating spectacle that merged devotion with cultural splendour.
Medical facilities and elaborate security arrangements were also put in place to ensure the safety and comfort of devotees, reflecting the organisers’ careful planning.
During his discourse, Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri addressed a range of subjects touching upon spirituality, social harmony, and cultural identity.
Emphasising that the soul of India resides in its timeless traditions, he underscored the importance of unity and collective strength in society.
He spoke against divisions based on caste, noting that the Constitution of India grants equal rights to all citizens and encourages a spirit of harmony that transcends social barriers.
Reflecting on demographic concerns from a cultural perspective, he urged Hindu families to consider balanced and responsible family structures, presenting the issue as part of a broader conversation about social continuity and cultural confidence.
Speaking on the subject of women’s reservation, he described it as an issue often shaped by political discourse, while emphasising that the true empowerment of women emerges through education, respect, and the nurturing of values within families and society.
The gathering also witnessed a notable moment when actor Firoz Khan, known for portraying Arjuna in B.R. Chopra’s iconic television series Mahabharat, met Pandit Shastri.
The interaction drew considerable interest among devotees, symbolising a connection between cultural representation and spiritual tradition. Pandit Shastri presented him with a book as a token of blessings and goodwill.
During his recent visit to Kashi, Pandit Shastri also expressed his spiritual sentiments regarding the Gyanvapi site, voicing hope that, with the blessings of Lord Vishwanath, justice would prevail and the dignity of Sanatan traditions would be upheld.
He described Kashi as a living example of Hindu generosity and coexistence, noting that the ancient city has long stood as a testament to the confluence of diverse faiths and communities.
Offering a reflective message to the gathering, Pandit Shastri remarked, “Do not strive merely to be a believer or a non-believer; strive to be truthful to your inner self.”
His words encouraged introspection, suggesting that when individuals recognise the authenticity within themselves, divine grace naturally follows, without the need for external validation.
Devotees responded with chants of “Sita Ram” and “Har Har Mahadev,” expressing collective devotion and spiritual enthusiasm.
