India, China Must Make Peace the First Priority, Jaishankar Tells ASEAN Summit in Manila
Manila: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Wednesday asserted that the world cannot move towards a stable future if major conflicts and regional tensions continue to persist.
Addressing the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Manila, he stressed that cooperation among nations is essential to resolve global challenges and ensure lasting peace.
Speaking during his visit to the Philippine capital for the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting, Jaishankar said his discussions with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed that restoring normal bilateral relations between India and China requires peace and stability along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
He underlined that maintaining tranquillity in the border areas remains the foremost condition for rebuilding mutual trust and improving overall ties.
The External Affairs Minister said both sides also reviewed ways to deepen India-China cooperation and examined how the two countries could contribute positively to the evolving global landscape.
He noted that constructive engagement between the neighbours could play a significant role in promoting regional stability.
Referring to the theme of the ministerial meeting, Jaishankar said it conveyed a clear message that countries must work together to shape their shared future.
He added that in an increasingly interconnected world, no nation can tackle complex international crises alone, making cooperation and dialogue indispensable for achieving sustainable peace and prosperity.

मनीला: विदेश मंत्री एस. जयशंकर ने बुधवार को कहा कि जब तक दुनिया में बड़े संघर्ष और क्षेत्रीय तनाव बने रहेंगे, तब तक वैश्विक स्थिरता और सुरक्षित भविष्य की कल्पना अधूरी रहेगी।
मनीला में आयोजित आसियान विदेश मंत्रियों की बैठक को संबोधित करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि अंतरराष्ट्रीय चुनौतियों का प्रभावी समाधान केवल सभी देशों के साझा सहयोग और समन्वित प्रयासों से ही संभव है।
फिलीपींस की राजधानी में आयोजित आसियान मंत्रिस्तरीय बैठक के दौरान जयशंकर ने बताया कि चीन के विदेश मंत्री वांग यी के साथ हुई उनकी बातचीत में इस बात पर जोर दिया गया कि भारत और चीन के बीच सामान्य संबंधों की बहाली के लिए वास्तविक नियंत्रण रेखा (एलएसी) पर शांति और स्थिरता सबसे महत्वपूर्ण आधार है।
उन्होंने कहा कि सीमावर्ती क्षेत्रों में विश्वास और शांति कायम रहना दोनों देशों के रिश्तों को आगे बढ़ाने की पहली आवश्यकता है।
विदेश मंत्री ने कहा कि दोनों पक्षों ने भारत-चीन सहयोग को और मजबूत बनाने के उपायों पर भी विचार-विमर्श किया तथा बदलते वैश्विक परिदृश्य में दोनों देशों की संभावित भूमिका पर विस्तार से चर्चा की। उन्होंने विश्वास जताया कि रचनात्मक सहयोग क्षेत्रीय स्थिरता और वैश्विक संतुलन को नई दिशा दे सकता है।
बैठक की थीम का उल्लेख करते हुए जयशंकर ने कहा कि इसका मूल संदेश यही है कि सभी देशों को मिलकर अपने साझा भविष्य का निर्माण करना चाहिए।
उन्होंने कहा कि आज की परस्पर जुड़ी हुई दुनिया में कोई भी देश अकेले जटिल वैश्विक संकटों का समाधान नहीं कर सकता, इसलिए संवाद, सहयोग और साझी जिम्मेदारी ही स्थायी शांति एवं समृद्धि का मार्ग प्रशस्त कर सकती है।
