Lucknow University Professor Booked for Alleged Social Media Remarks on Pahalgam Terror Attack

An FIR has been lodged against Dr. Madri Kakoti, an assistant professor in the Department of Linguistics at Lucknow University, for allegedly posting objectionable content on social media in connection with the recent terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives, many of whom were tourists.

The complaint was filed in Lucknow by ABVP leader Jatin Shukla, also known as Manmohan Shukla.

According to the police, the complainant accused Dr. Kakoti of repeatedly posting content on her X (formerly Twitter) account that allegedly undermines India’s unity, sovereignty, and public order. Her posts are said to include inflammatory language, with terms such as “Saffron Terrorists,” and are alleged to have the potential to provoke communal unrest.

The complaint further claims that some of her posts have been picked up and circulated by Pakistani media outlets.

Confirming the development, Amar Singh, Station House Officer of Hasanganj police station, stated that Dr. Kakoti has been booked under charges including sedition.
