Nine young trekkers from Bengaluru perish in intense cold:Thirteen rescued in Uttarkashi.

At least nine trekkers lost their lives and thirteen others were rescued after they lost track and died due to unbearably low temperature.

Eleven of the rescued trekkers were reportedly airlifted while two were brought to Uttar Kashi by the forest department team.

The unfortunate incident took place during a trekking venture in Sahastral in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand.

All those youngsters who lost their lives came from Bengaluru.

 

As per reports twenty two member trekking team from Karnataka and Maharashtra had gone on trekking to Sahastral on a height of 4,100 metres.

Twenty of them got stuck in dense fog and snowfall. As a result they had to spend whole night in intense cold they could not fight and nine of them perished.

 

Rest of them were still stuck.

Meanwhile, the trekking coordinator contacted the administration. As a result SDRF and forest department teams rushed to their rescue.

A search and rescue team of the Airforce also came into action.
