Prayagraj Student Dies by Suicide While Preparing for Government Exams; Allegations of Blackmail Surface
A young competitive exam aspirant in Prayagraj allegedly died by suicide after hanging himself in his room. Police recovered a suicide note from the scene in which the student reportedly mentioned being deceived and emotionally harassed by a young woman.
Investigators have taken possession of the deceased’s mobile phone and begun examining its contents. Officials believe the student may have recorded a video call before taking the extreme step.
The device has been sent for forensic analysis, and police say further action will depend on the findings. Based on the contents of the suicide note, a case has been registered against the woman named by the deceased.
Promising Student Was Preparing for Competitive Examinations
The deceased, identified as 23-year-old Shubham Verma, was a resident of Shikarpur village and had been preparing for government recruitment examinations.
According to family members, he returned to his room on Thursday evening after speaking with relatives and did not come out again.
When he failed to respond for an extended period, concerned family members and neighbours attempted to contact him.
After receiving no response, they looked through a window and were shocked to find him hanging inside the room.
The family immediately informed the police, who arrived at the scene and sent the body for post-mortem examination. The incident has left relatives and local residents deeply distressed.
Suicide Note Points to Emotional Distress
According to police sources, the suicide note recovered from the room suggests that the student had been under considerable emotional pressure.
In the note, he allegedly claimed that he had been cheated and mentally harassed.
Investigators suspect that a video call may have taken place shortly before the incident.
Forensic experts are now analysing the student’s mobile phone to determine whether any digital evidence can shed light on the circumstances leading up to his death.
Police officials stated that the contents of the note and the electronic evidence collected from the phone will play an important role in the ongoing investigation.
Family Seeks Justice as Probe Continues
The student’s father, a farmer, and other family members have alleged that a young woman was responsible for causing severe mental distress to Shubham. They claim that he had been facing emotional turmoil for some time.
Acting on the family’s complaint and the allegations mentioned in the suicide note, police have registered a case against the woman, who is reportedly a resident of Basti district.
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and all claims will be thoroughly examined. Police are gathering digital records, witness statements, and forensic evidence to establish the facts surrounding the tragic incident before taking further legal action.
