The Supreme Court has turned down a plea by YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia, who sought the release of his passport amid an ongoing investigation into his controversial remarks on the show India’s Got Latent.

The apex court stated that it would consider his request only after the investigation was concluded. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the prosecution, assured the court that the probe would be wrapped up within two weeks.

While denying his request for the passport, the Supreme Court extended its interim order, which protects Allahabadia from arrest in connection with multiple FIRs registered against him in Guwahati, Mumbai, and Jaipur.

During the court hearing on Tuesday, Allahabadia assured the Supreme Court that he would uphold decency in his shows. He also requested the modification of the condition requiring him to surrender his passport.

The court will take a final call on his passport plea once the investigation reaches its conclusion.
