The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed concern on Thursday over reports that the alleged plan was motivated by anti-Hindu and racist hostility, with references to violence against people of Indian origin.
New Delhi said the nature of the reported threats was particularly disturbing and called for effective measures to protect the Indian community in the United States.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India had taken note of the action initiated by US law enforcement agencies, including the arrest and detention of the suspect and the charges brought against him.

The case centres on 19-year-old Alexandros Paporakis, a resident of Palatine, Illinois, who was arrested in connection with an alleged plan to attack a Hindu place of worship in the Aurora area, according to the supplied report.
Investigators reportedly recovered a document described as a manifesto that contained white supremacist views and references to violence against people of Indian origin.
