Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak replaces Aircraft Act: President gives nod

President Droupadi Murmu has approved the legislation aimed at promoting domestic aircraft design and production in India. The Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, which supersedes the nine-decade-old Aircraft Act, received parliamentary approval earlier this month.

A notification issued on December 11 confirms the President’s endorsement of the bill.

 

“An Act to establish guidelines for regulating and overseeing the design, production, upkeep, ownership, utilization, operation, distribution, exportation and importation of aircraft and related matters,” stated the notification from the Ministry of Law and Justice.
