Salman Khan brought this distinction into focus while discussing Ranveer Singh’s performance in Dhurandhar, praising the actor for adapting his naturally exuberant style to a role that demanded considerable restraint.

Karisma Kapoor made a surprise appearance and took charge of the rapid-fire round, asking Salman to choose between Ranbir Kapoor’s work in Animal and Ranveer’s performance in Dhurandhar.
Rather than declaring one actor superior, Salman argued that the two performances belonged to different artistic territories.
He described both actors as exceptionally talented, pointing out that their approaches rely on distinct qualities: one is associated with abundant energy, while the other brings a different kind of intensity.
It was his assessment of Ranveer, however, that gave the exchange its most interesting dimension. Salman observed that Dhurandhar required the actor to rein in the very quality that has long made him distinctive on screen.
Instead of allowing his performance to expand in every direction, Ranveer had to exercise control and keep much of his natural exuberance in check.

Salman’s comments were notable because he did not turn the question into a contest between two prominent contemporary stars. Instead, he evaluated the performances according to their individual demands.
His response shifted the conversation away from the familiar debate over who performed better and towards the craft involved in meeting the needs of a particular role.
The exchange also offered a glimpse of Salman’s perspective on the profession. Over the years, he has been associated with supporting younger performers and offering guidance to people entering the film industry.

Its sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, arrived in cinemas on March 19, 2026. Ranveer returned to the franchise, portraying Hamza Ali Mazari and the character’s other identity, Jaskirat Singh Rangi.
The scale of the franchise makes Salman’s observation particularly relevant.
In a large production featuring an intense narrative and high audience expectations, a performer must balance the demands of the story with the temptation to make every scene a showcase.
The ability to remain measured can be just as important as delivering a powerful dramatic moment.
