Junior doctor raped by colleague in Gwalior; accused held
A 25-year-old junior doctor was allegedly raped by her colleague at an abandoned hostel on the premises of a government-run medical college in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, police reported. The incident occurred on Sunday, and the accused was arrested the following day.
According to City Superintendent of Police Ashok Jadon, the victim, who was preparing for an exam, was staying at the girls’ hostel of Gajraraja Medical College. The accused, also a 25-year-old junior doctor and a former classmate of the victim, called her to meet at the old boys’ hostel, a building that is currently unoccupied.
When the victim arrived at the deserted location, the accused allegedly threatened and sexually assaulted her. Following the attack, the woman filed a complaint at the Kampu police station.
The police acted swiftly, arresting the accused and registering a case against him under relevant sections of the law. Authorities have confirmed that a detailed investigation is underway to uncover all aspects of the incident.
This distressing event has raised concerns about the safety of medical students, particularly in shared college premises. The college administration and law enforcement agencies have yet to comment on any security measures being taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
