A shocking incident took place in Ganpatpur village, under the jurisdiction of Nigohi police station, where a 25-year-old man allegedly murdered his mother using a spear when she tried to stop him from assaulting his wife, police reported on Friday. The accused, identified as Vinod Kumar, has since been taken into custody.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh S, the tragic event unfolded on Thursday evening. Vinod, who reportedly had a history of violent behavior, frequently engaged in altercations at home, particularly after consuming alcohol. On the evening of the incident, he was physically assaulting his wife when his mother, Naina Devi, aged 60, intervened in an attempt to protect her daughter-in-law from further harm. Enraged by his mother’s interference, Vinod grabbed a spear and launched a brutal attack on her, inflicting fatal injuries.

As soon as the police were informed of the crime, they rushed to the scene, secured the area, and took charge of the deceased’s body. The accused was promptly arrested, and a case of murder has been officially registered against him. Authorities have also sent Naina Devi’s body for a post-mortem examination to gather further forensic evidence that could support the ongoing investigation.

In a separate and equally distressing incident, another case of murder was reported in the Jalalabad police station area. The lifeless body of a 55-year-old man, identified as Asaram, was discovered late on Thursday night lying on the roadside just outside Kajjar Bojhi village.

According to Superintendent of Police (Rural) Manoj Kumar Awasthi, preliminary investigations and statements from the victim’s family indicate that Asaram was lured out of his house by two men, Sumer and Kallu, who invited him for a smoke. However, their real intention was far more sinister, as they subsequently shot him dead on the roadside.

Following the discovery of Asaram’s body, police launched an immediate probe into the incident. The two suspects, Sumer and Kallu, have been identified and booked for murder, with legal proceedings initiated against them. The victim’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to ascertain further details surrounding the cause and time of death.

Both incidents have sparked concern and unrest in their respective villages, with local authorities urging residents to come forward with any additional information that could aid in the investigations. The police have assured swift action against the perpetrators and are determined to ensure that justice is served for the victims and their families.
