In a tragic and brutal incident that unfolded in Kaju village under the jurisdiction of the Charwa police station in the Kaushambi district, a woman and her son lost their lives after being violently attacked with sharp-edged weapons late on Monday night. The shocking crime reportedly stemmed from a minor dispute that escalated beyond control.
According to the local police, the two accused individuals fled the scene immediately after committing the crime. The situation was brought to the attention of law enforcement officials when the Gram Pradhan (village head) informed them about the distressing incident. Upon receiving the report, police officers promptly arrived at the scene and took swift action. The critically injured victims were rushed to the prestigious Swarup Rani Nehru Hospital (SRN) in Prayagraj for emergency medical treatment. Unfortunately, despite the doctors’ best efforts, both victims succumbed to their grievous injuries while undergoing treatment.
In response to this heinous act of violence, the police have formed three special teams to track down and apprehend the perpetrators. The authorities are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to ensure that justice is served at the earliest.
Further investigations have revealed that the violent clash was the result of a long-standing conflict between two individuals—20-year-old Sarjeet, the son of Sangam Lal, and another young man named Sunny, also the son of Sangam Lal. The two were reportedly at odds over a dispute that had been brewing for some time.
Residents provided insight into one of the key factors that contributed to the tension between them. According to villagers, Sarjeet’s younger sister is mentally unstable, and it was a common occurrence for the accused to send her to a nearby shop to buy biscuits. Sarjeet had expressed his strong disapproval of this practice, which became a significant point of contention between him and Sunny.
A heated altercation had taken place between the two over the same issue just a day before the fatal incident. However, the hostility did not subside, and the simmering resentment erupted into another confrontation on Monday night when Sarjeet returned home. The situation quickly spiraled out of control as Sunny and his associates began hurling verbal abuse at him. When Sarjeet protested against this behavior, the situation took a violent turn. The accused and his accomplices launched a ruthless attack on Sarjeet, striking him repeatedly with sharp-edged weapons.
Hearing the commotion and seeing her son in distress, Sarjeet’s mother, 42-year-old Sangeeta, immediately rushed to his aid, attempting to shield him from the attackers. However, the assailants showed no mercy and turned their weapons on her as well, leaving her severely injured. Their cries for help echoed through the village, prompting nearby residents to rush to the scene in an attempt to intervene. However, the damage had already been done by the time they arrived, and the attackers had fled the area.
Upon receiving information about the brutal assault, officers from the Charwa police station quickly mobilized and arrived at the crime scene. The injured victims were immediately transported to Swarup Rani Nehru Hospital in Prayagraj in a desperate attempt to save their lives. Unfortunately, despite receiving medical attention, both Sangeeta and her son succumbed to their severe injuries during treatment.
The police have launched an intensive manhunt to arrest the accused individuals responsible for this gruesome attack. Superintendent of Police (SP) Brajesh Kumar Srivastava also visited the hospital and met with the grieving family members of the deceased. He assured them that the police were fully committed to ensuring that the culprits were apprehended at the earliest and brought to justice. The tragic incident has left the entire village in shock, with residents mourning the untimely loss of two innocent lives due to an avoidable dispute that escalated into a horrific crime.
Authorities are continuing their investigation, gathering evidence, and recording statements from witnesses to piece together the exact sequence of events leading up to the tragedy. Meanwhile, the police have assured the community that all necessary efforts are being made to bring the perpetrators to book and restore a sense of security in the village.
