Akhilesh Yadav Promises New Education Policy in UP, Free Education Till PG and Reservation in Private Schools
Prayagraj: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Monday said that if his party returns to power in Uttar Pradesh, it will introduce a completely new education policy aimed at improving learning standards while creating better employment and self-employment opportunities for young people.
He alleged that the current government’s education policy has several shortcomings and assured that a future SP government would bring major reforms to strengthen the state’s education system.
Speaking to reporters after attending a seminar in Prayagraj, Yadav announced that education would be made free up to the postgraduate (PG) level.
He said government schools and colleges would be upgraded and strengthened so that children from every section of society receive quality education without financial constraints.
The SP chief further stated that free education would also be extended up to the Intermediate level.
He added that his government would focus on improving the infrastructure of government primary schools and ensuring better educational facilities for students across Uttar Pradesh.
Touching upon environmental issues, Yadav asserted that pollution must first be eliminated from the Yamuna and Gomti rivers before claiming success in cleaning the Ganga.
According to him, merely cleaning the Ganga without restoring its major tributaries would not produce lasting results.
On the issue of social justice, Yadav said reservation should also be introduced in private educational institutions.
He maintained that if the Samajwadi Party forms the next government in Uttar Pradesh, it would consider extending reservation benefits to students studying in private schools to ensure equal educational opportunities.
He also said special emphasis would be placed on skill development, and around 25 lakh people would be connected with employment opportunities. Vacant government posts, he added, would be filled through recruitment drives while protecting the future interests of the youth.
Responding to a question regarding the Nishad community, Yadav said boatmen should be given rights over river ghats and housing facilities should be provided to their families under government welfare schemes.
Commenting on the government’s claims regarding river cleaning, the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said that simply declaring the Ganga clean would not solve the problem.
He argued that meaningful improvement could only be achieved after effectively cleaning the Yamuna and Gomti rivers, adding that allocating funds alone would not be sufficient without proper implementation on the ground.

प्रयागराज: समाजवादी पार्टी के राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष अखिलेश यादव ने सोमवार को कहा कि यदि उत्तर प्रदेश में उनकी पार्टी की सरकार बनती है तो राज्य में पूरी तरह नई शिक्षा नीति लागू की जाएगी।
उन्होंने कहा कि इस नीति का उद्देश्य शिक्षा व्यवस्था को अधिक प्रभावी बनाना और युवाओं के लिए रोजगार एवं स्वरोजगार के बेहतर अवसर उपलब्ध कराना होगा। उनका आरोप था कि वर्तमान सरकार की शिक्षा नीति में कई कमियां हैं, जिन्हें दूर करने के लिए व्यापक सुधार किए जाएंगे।
प्रयागराज में आयोजित एक सेमिनार में भाग लेने के बाद पत्रकारों से बातचीत करते हुए अखिलेश यादव ने घोषणा की कि उनकी सरकार बनने पर स्नातकोत्तर (पीजी) तक की शिक्षा पूरी तरह निःशुल्क कर दी जाएगी।
उन्होंने कहा कि सरकारी स्कूलों और महाविद्यालयों को आधुनिक सुविधाओं से सुसज्जित कर मजबूत बनाया जाएगा, ताकि समाज के हर वर्ग के बच्चों को गुणवत्तापूर्ण शिक्षा मिल सके।
उन्होंने आगे कहा कि इंटरमीडिएट तक की पढ़ाई भी मुफ्त कराने की व्यवस्था की जाएगी। इसके साथ ही प्रदेश के सरकारी प्राथमिक विद्यालयों के बुनियादी ढांचे में सुधार किया जाएगा और विद्यार्थियों को बेहतर शैक्षणिक सुविधाएं उपलब्ध कराने पर विशेष ध्यान दिया जाएगा।
पर्यावरण के मुद्दे पर बोलते हुए अखिलेश यादव ने कहा कि गंगा को वास्तव में स्वच्छ बनाना है तो सबसे पहले यमुना और गोमती नदियों के प्रदूषण को समाप्त करना होगा।
उनका कहना था कि केवल गंगा की सफाई का दावा करने से समस्या का समाधान नहीं होगा, जब तक उसकी प्रमुख सहायक नदियों को भी प्रदूषण मुक्त नहीं किया जाता।
सामाजिक न्याय के सवाल पर उन्होंने कहा कि निजी शिक्षण संस्थानों में भी आरक्षण लागू किया जाना चाहिए। उनका कहना था कि यदि समाजवादी पार्टी की सरकार बनती है तो निजी स्कूलों में पढ़ने वाले विद्यार्थियों के लिए भी आरक्षण की व्यवस्था पर विचार किया जाएगा, ताकि सभी वर्गों को समान शैक्षणिक अवसर मिल सकें।
उन्होंने कौशल विकास पर विशेष जोर देने की बात कही और लगभग 25 लाख लोगों को रोजगार से जोड़ने का लक्ष्य बताया। साथ ही सरकारी विभागों में रिक्त पदों पर शीघ्र भर्ती कर युवाओं के भविष्य को सुरक्षित करने का भी आश्वासन दिया।
निषाद समाज से जुड़े एक प्रश्न के उत्तर में अखिलेश यादव ने कहा कि नाविकों को नदी घाटों पर अधिकार दिए जाने चाहिए और उनके परिवारों को सरकारी योजनाओं के तहत आवास की सुविधा उपलब्ध कराई जानी चाहिए।
नदियों की सफाई को लेकर सरकार के दावों पर प्रतिक्रिया देते हुए अखिलेश यादव ने कहा कि केवल यह कह देना कि गंगा स्वच्छ हो गई है, वास्तविकता को नहीं बदलता। उन्होंने कहा कि गंगा की प्रभावी सफाई तभी संभव है जब यमुना और गोमती जैसी सहायक नदियों को भी प्रदूषण मुक्त किया जाए।
उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि केवल बजट आवंटित कर देने से काम पूरा नहीं होता, बल्कि योजनाओं का प्रभावी और ईमानदार क्रियान्वयन भी उतना ही आवश्यक है।
