Allahabad: Taking serious note of assault of litigants inside chamber of Civil Judge at the district court by lawyers, the Allahabad High Court on Tuesday restrained two lawyers – Ran Vijay Singh and Mohd Asif from entering the district court, saying,”Having found prima facie allegation regarding existence of criminal contempt against them”. Acting on the reference sent by district judge, Allahabad, a division bench comprising Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra and Justice Mohd Azhar Husain Idrisi issued notice to both lawyers – Ran Vijay Singh and Mohd Asif asking them why they be not punished for criminal contempt. The court also directed the Allahabad district judge to submit report after perusing CCTV footage relating to involvement of other counsels or individuals, who too had committed contempt. The court also directed Commissioner of Police, Allahabad to submit report regarding existing security arrangements in district court. The court also directed Commissioner of Police to ensure that adequate police force is deployed on the instructions of district judge, Allahabad, so that such incident does not occur in future.
