There seems to be no end on political discussion and war of words on the safety of constitution of the country ever since elections in the country between political parties.
Following censure motion of Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla on emergency imposed in the country in 1975, it was president Draupadi Murmu who came down heavily on emergency.
Ostensibly, this move is to show congressmen who have been carrying copies of the constitution, the mirror as it was during their own party rule when emergency was imposed on the country and the constitution was ruined.
Congressmen created a din in parliament the moment President commented on the emergency.
The President said, emergency clamped on the nation on June 25, 1975 was like a blot on the constitution.
The country was shocked there was massive outcry.
The country retaliated to such an unconstitutional move by banishing the congress rule.
The President adviced the opposition against its adversial mindset as it was detrimental to the very spirit of the constitution. It also affects the development journey.
She said development works had been jeopardised due to instability.
In the end it were the people who changed the scenario.
Once again, negativity was being spread at a time when development is taking place.
The spreading of false news was creating confusion in the mind of people.
The President cautioned against divisive forces while drwaing a new picture of developing country.
The President said, false news and canard were being spread in this age of IT revolution and an attempt was being made to weaken democracy.
Such forces are active both within and outside the country.
This will not be allowed to be carried on unchecked.
Advising the opposition to play positive role during the budget session, the President said, opposing policies and disrupting parliamentary proceedings were two different things.
People’s faith gets strength when parliament runs smoothly. We need to stop this nature of opposition for the sake of opposition.
The President asked the government to continue with the improvement and modernization of armed forces in country.
The President admitted and praised the government for bringing about improvements in the armed forces.
Today India is manufacturing defence equipments worth more than one lakh crore and there was 18 percent increase in defence exports.
