Four Killed in Separate Road Accidents in Pratapgarh, Several Others Seriously Injured
A series of tragic road accidents in Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh claimed four lives and left several others critically injured late Thursday night and Friday evening.
The incidents occurred in different police station areas of the district and have left families in deep shock and mourning.
In the first accident, two cousin brothers lost their lives after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a nilgai (blue bull) in the Khandai police station area.
According to police, 19-year-old Sadashiv, son of Nageshwar and a resident of Ghana Ka Purwa village in MauAima area of Prayagraj, had gone to attend a wedding procession in Jaitipur village along with his cousin, 18-year-old Vikas, son of his maternal uncle and a resident of Karwar Parvezpur.
After attending the wedding, the two were returning home on a motorcycle around 12:30 am. As they reached near Bharthipur village on the Kishunganj-Rakha road, a nilgai suddenly came in front of their bike.
The motorcycle crashed into the animal, causing both youths to suffer severe injuries.
Police rushed the injured cousins to the Medical College hospital, but doctors declared both of them dead on arrival.
In another tragic incident, a car carrying several young passengers crashed into a massive roadside tree near Hulasgarh Bazaar in the Maheshganj police station area on the Pratapgarh-Kunda road.
The group was reportedly travelling to Managarh on Friday evening.
The passengers included 18-year-old Antima Gautam, daughter of Govind Prasad Gautam; 17-year-old Richa Gautam, daughter of Pappu; 20-year-old Shakti Gautam and his 11-year-old sister Sonali, children of Pintu Gautam; 18-year-old Mehak, daughter of Nanhelal; and 25-year-old Annu Gautam, who had come to visit his uncle Tulsi Ram’s house.
Police said the car was being driven by Sheru, a resident of Dharupur village in the Dehat Kotwali area.
As the vehicle approached Hulasgarh Bazaar, the driver allegedly lost control and the speeding car rammed into a huge tree standing on the roadside.
The impact of the collision was so severe that the vehicle was completely mangled, leaving all passengers trapped and injured inside the wreckage.
Residents rushed to the spot and pulled the victims out of the damaged car. However, by the time help arrived, 17-year-old Richa Gautam and 25-year-old Annu Gautam had already died.
Three others — Shakti Gautam, Mehak and Sonali — sustained serious injuries in the accident. Meanwhile, the driver reportedly abandoned the vehicle and fled from the scene immediately after the crash.
After receiving information about the accident, Maheshganj SHO Sandeep Tiwari reached the spot and arranged for the injured victims to be transported to the Primary Health Centre in a police vehicle.
Police later informed the families of the victims about the accident, and the injured were subsequently referred to the Medical College for advanced treatment.
