Half-Burnt Body of Young Woman Found Near Highway Dump in Unnao, Police Probe Underway
A shocking incident has surfaced from Unnao, where the half-burnt body of a young woman was discovered in a garbage dump along the highway.
The victim was found without clothes, raising suspicions that she may have been murdered before her body was dumped at the spot.
Police, however, say the woman is suspected of being mentally unstable, and an investigation is currently underway.
The body was recovered on Monday afternoon at around 1 pm from a burning pile of garbage located in front of the ARTO office on the Kanpur-Lucknow Highway.
According to local reports, the body of the woman, believed to be around 25 years old, was found in a partially burnt condition inside the trash heap.
The discovery created panic in the area, with residents fearing that the woman may have been killed and her body hidden in the garbage before being set on fire.
Some locals also suspected that the victim could have been brought to the location in a vehicle and dumped there to conceal evidence.
Police officials reached the scene soon after receiving information and began an investigation.
The body was later sent to the mortuary for postmortem examination. During the search, officers also recovered pieces of a salwar suit from the site, which may help in identifying the woman.
The garbage dumping ground, situated nearly 100 meters away from a hotel and directly opposite the ARTO office, is reportedly used regularly by the municipal authorities. Locals said that garbage at the site is often set ablaze on a daily basis.
Speaking on the incident, Circle Officer Deepak Yadav said that preliminary findings suggest the woman may have been mentally ill and could have suffered burn injuries while scavenging through the garbage.
However, he added that the police are investigating all possible angles, including murder and sexual assault, before reaching any conclusion.
As of now, the identity of the deceased woman remains unknown, and further investigation is in progress.
