Hemant Soren Warns Against Politicising Jharkhand Student Stir, Says ‘Dialogue, Not Force’ Will Resolve Exam Row
Chief Minister promises transparent probe and action against those responsible for recruitment irregularities as talks with protesting aspirants resume
Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has appealed to students protesting alleged irregularities in government recruitment examinations to keep political parties away from their movement, assuring them that his government would pursue their grievances through dialogue and a transparent process.
Speaking at the Adivasi Mahotsav on Sunday, Soren said the state would not shy away from taking action against anyone found responsible for wrongdoing in the recruitment system.
He maintained that the students’ concerns could be resolved through democratic engagement rather than confrontation.
The Chief Minister’s intervention came as the agitation entered its 16th consecutive day and the state government resumed discussions with representatives of the protesting aspirants.
‘Dialogue, not batons’
Soren argued that force could not provide a lasting solution to the students’ grievances.
Distinguishing internal protests and threats faced at the country’s borders, he said dialogue should be used to settle disputes with citizens, while weapons were meant for confronting enemies at the frontier.
The Chief Minister’s remarks came against the backdrop of mounting tensions between protesters and security personnel during the ongoing agitation.
He also recalled the treatment of young demonstrators during protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, claiming that protesters there had faced harsh police action, including baton charges and the use of firearms.
His reference to those incidents appeared aimed at underlining his government’s stated preference for negotiation rather than coercive measures in dealing with the Jharkhand students’ movement.
Government promises action on proven wrongdoing
Soren said the administration would stand by students seeking justice and would act against individuals found responsible for irregularities in recruitment examinations.
The government has been attempting to reopen dialogue with the aspirants as the agitation continues.
The Chief Minister said transparency would be central to resolving the controversy and that the grievances raised by the candidates would be dealt with through due process.
The government’s renewed engagement, however, has not fully eased the standoff.
One prominent faction of the student movement has reportedly questioned the timing and purpose of the latest talks, describing the government’s initiative as an attempt at political manoeuvring.
CM accuses political interests of exploiting agitation
Soren also directed his criticism at political parties and what he described as vested interests seeking to influence the students.
He alleged that misinformation was being circulated to turn young people against the state government and claimed that some political and other interests were attempting to use the agitation for their own objectives.
According to the Chief Minister, efforts were also being made to interfere with the functioning of Jharkhand’s democratic institutions.
Soren urged political actors not to turn the students’ concerns into an electoral or partisan campaign and appealed to protesters to pursue their demands through democratic channels.
Students remain at centre of recruitment controversy
The agitation has been driven by allegations of irregularities in recruitment examinations and demands for greater transparency in the selection process.
For the protesting aspirants, the dispute concerns more than the outcome of individual examinations.
They have been seeking assurances that recruitment procedures will be conducted fairly and that allegations of wrongdoing will be properly investigated.
Soren’s latest appeal therefore comes at a critical point in the standoff.
While the government is signalling its willingness to negotiate and promising action where wrongdoing is established, sections of the student movement remain sceptical about the government’s intentions.
The coming rounds of talks are likely to determine whether the two sides can narrow their differences and prevent the agitation from developing into a wider political confrontation.
For now, Soren’s message is clear: the government wants the recruitment controversy addressed through investigation and dialogue, while warning political forces against taking control of a movement that began with students demanding answers over their examinations.

झारखंड CM हेमंत सोरेन ने भर्ती परीक्षा विवाद को लेकर छात्रों के आंदोलन को राजनीतिक रंग न देने की अपील की और गड़बड़ी के दोषियों पर सख्त कार्रवाई का भरोसा दिया।
रांची: झारखंड में भर्ती परीक्षाओं में कथित अनियमितताओं को लेकर चल रहे छात्र आंदोलन के बीच मुख्यमंत्री हेमंत सोरेन ने रविवार को राजनीतिक दलों से आंदोलन को राजनीतिक रूप देने से बचने की अपील की।
उन्होंने कहा कि छात्रों की शिकायतों का समाधान टकराव के बजाय बातचीत, पारदर्शिता और लोकतांत्रिक प्रक्रिया के जरिए किया जाना चाहिए।
आदिवासी महोत्सव में बोलते हुए मुख्यमंत्री ने भरोसा दिलाया कि भर्ती प्रक्रिया में किसी भी तरह की गड़बड़ी के लिए जिम्मेदार पाए जाने वाले लोगों के खिलाफ कड़ी कार्रवाई की जाएगी।
उन्होंने कहा कि सरकार प्रदर्शनकारी अभ्यर्थियों के न्याय के अधिकार के प्रति प्रतिबद्ध है।
मुख्यमंत्री का बयान ऐसे समय आया है जब छात्रों का आंदोलन लगातार 16वें दिन जारी है और राज्य सरकार ने प्रदर्शनकारी अभ्यर्थियों के साथ बातचीत का नया दौर शुरू किया है।
लाठी नहीं, बातचीत से समाधान पर जोर
सोरेन ने कहा कि छात्रों की समस्याओं का हल पुलिस बल के इस्तेमाल से नहीं निकलेगा।
उन्होंने स्पष्ट किया कि नागरिकों की शिकायतों का समाधान संवाद के जरिए किया जाना चाहिए, जबकि देश की सीमाओं पर दुश्मनों से निपटने के लिए हथियारों का इस्तेमाल होता है।
मुख्यमंत्री का यह बयान आंदोलन के दौरान प्रदर्शनकारियों और सुरक्षा बलों के बीच बढ़े तनाव की पृष्ठभूमि में आया है।
उन्होंने दिल्ली के जंतर-मंतर पर हुए युवा प्रदर्शनों का भी उल्लेख किया और आरोप लगाया कि वहां अपनी मांगें उठाने वाले युवाओं को कठोर कार्रवाई का सामना करना पड़ा था।
सोरेन ने लाठीचार्ज और गोली चलाए जाने जैसी घटनाओं का जिक्र करते हुए कहा कि झारखंड में छात्रों के साथ बातचीत को प्राथमिकता दी जानी चाहिए।
गड़बड़ी साबित हुई तो दोषियों पर कार्रवाई का भरोसा
मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि सरकार छात्रों के न्याय के अधिकार के साथ खड़ी है। उन्होंने यह भी स्पष्ट किया कि भर्ती प्रक्रिया में अनियमितता के लिए जो भी व्यक्ति जिम्मेदार पाया जाएगा, उसके खिलाफ सख्त कार्रवाई की जाएगी।
राज्य सरकार ने आंदोलनकारी अभ्यर्थियों के साथ बातचीत दोबारा शुरू की है। सरकार का कहना है कि छात्रों की शिकायतों का समाधान पारदर्शी तरीके से किया जाएगा और पूरी प्रक्रिया तथ्यों तथा जांच के आधार पर आगे बढ़ेगी।
हालांकि, सरकार की इस पहल से आंदोलन पूरी तरह शांत नहीं हुआ है। छात्र आंदोलन के एक प्रमुख धड़े ने बातचीत के नए प्रयास को संदेह की नजर से देखते हुए इसे राजनीतिक रणनीति का हिस्सा बताया है।
राजनीतिक दलों और ‘निहित स्वार्थों’ पर निशाना
सोरेन ने अपने बयान में राजनीतिक दलों के साथ-साथ उन तत्वों पर भी निशाना साधा जिन्हें उन्होंने आंदोलन का फायदा उठाने की कोशिश करने वाला बताया।
मुख्यमंत्री का आरोप है कि युवाओं को प्रभावित करने के लिए गलत सूचनाएं और भ्रामक बातें फैलाई जा रही हैं।
उन्होंने दावा किया कि कुछ राजनीतिक और निहित स्वार्थ वाले समूह राज्य की लोकतांत्रिक व्यवस्था को प्रभावित करने का प्रयास कर रहे हैं।
उन्होंने प्रदर्शनकारी युवाओं से भी अपील की कि वे अपने आंदोलन के लिए राजनीतिक संरक्षण पर निर्भर न रहें और अपनी मांगों को लोकतांत्रिक तरीके से आगे बढ़ाएं।
भर्ती व्यवस्था की पारदर्शिता बना मुख्य मुद्दा
छात्रों का आंदोलन भर्ती परीक्षाओं में कथित गड़बड़ियों और चयन प्रक्रिया में पारदर्शिता की मांग के इर्द-गिर्द केंद्रित है।
अभ्यर्थियों की चिंता केवल किसी एक परीक्षा के परिणाम तक सीमित नहीं है। वे चाहते हैं कि भर्ती परीक्षाओं की प्रक्रिया विश्वसनीय हो, शिकायतों की निष्पक्ष जांच हो और यदि किसी स्तर पर अनियमितता साबित होती है तो जिम्मेदार लोगों की जवाबदेही तय की जाए।
ऐसे समय में मुख्यमंत्री का ताजा बयान सरकार और आंदोलनकारियों के बीच बातचीत के अगले दौर के लिए महत्वपूर्ण माना जा रहा है।
सरकार जहां संवाद और जांच के जरिए विवाद सुलझाने की बात कर रही है, वहीं आंदोलनकारी छात्रों का एक वर्ग सरकारी पहल की मंशा पर सवाल उठा रहा है।
अब निगाहें आगे होने वाली बातचीत पर हैं। यदि दोनों पक्ष छात्रों की शिकायतों, जांच की प्रक्रिया और जवाबदेही के मुद्दे पर सहमति बनाने में सफल रहते हैं तो लंबे समय से चल रहे आंदोलन को समाप्त करने की राह खुल सकती है।
फिलहाल मुख्यमंत्री ने स्पष्ट संकेत दिया है कि सरकार बातचीत के जरिए समाधान चाहती है, लेकिन वह आंदोलन को राजनीतिक प्रभाव से दूर रखने पर भी जोर दे रही है।
