Hit-and-Run on Chaufatka ROB: One Killed, Three Injured as Delhi-Registered Car Linked to Multiple Owners; Driver Traced

On Wednesday, a high-speed, out-of-control car created chaos on the Chaufatka ROB, crashing into three motorcycles and a scooter.

The car’s driver immediately fled the scene. Tragically, one youth riding a motorcycle lost his life, and three others — including a woman — sustained serious injuries.

The incident occurred around 8:45 AM, when a Delhi-registered car, heading toward Dhoomanganj at high speed, suddenly veered out of control on the overbridge.

Thirty-two-year-old Rohit Kushwaha, a resident of Preetnagar, died on the spot, while three others were critically injured.

Police launched an investigation using CCTV footage, which showed the car near Sulemsarai shortly after the accident.

A broken number plate found at the scene led officers to trace the vehicle to Delhi’s Chittaranjan Park.

Officers discovered that the owner, Talwant Singh, had sold the car six months ago to a man in Mundera, Prayagraj.

However, that buyer had further sold the car three months ago to a resident of Ahmedpur Asrauli — but reportedly had not received full payment.

Four days before the accident, the Ahmedpur buyer returned the vehicle and left it at Mundera Mandi.

While the Mundera resident was away in Ajmer, the Ahmedpur buyer allegedly used a spare key to take the car again, and it has been missing since.

Multiple individuals linked to the vehicle’s ownership trail have surfaced, creating a complex chain of custody for the police to verify.

Authorities now claim to have identified the driver who was behind the wheel on the day of the incident and have assured that he will be arrested soon.

“Several individuals tied to the vehicle have been identified during the investigation. We have traced the driver involved in the incident, and he will be arrested shortly.”Manish Kumar Shandilya, DCP City
