The Indian government has also urged Pakistan to undertake measures to restore the damaged place of worship and take concrete steps to safeguard the religious sites and cultural heritage of minority communities living in the country.
The reported incident took place in Siraj village of Narowal, where a Hindu temple believed to be around a century old was allegedly destroyed.
The development has drawn a sharp response from New Delhi, which expressed concern not only over the reported damage to the religious structure but also over what it described as the failure of local authorities to protect a historic minority site.
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India had taken note of the reports with serious concern.
He described the reported destruction as an unacceptable act of vandalism involving a long-standing Hindu place of worship.
India’s response has placed the incident within the broader context of the protection of religious minorities in Pakistan.
New Delhi maintained that authorities have a fundamental responsibility to ensure that minority citizens can practise their faith safely and that places associated with their religious and cultural traditions are protected from attacks or destruction.

India has further called for those found responsible to be dealt with appropriately under the law.
