Karnataka Horror: Missing Teen Girl Allegedly Murdered by Father Over Marriage Dispute in Tumakuru

A shocking case from Karnataka’s Tumakuru district has left residents deeply disturbed after a 17-year-old girl, who was initially reported missing, was allegedly murdered by her own father over a disagreement related to her marriage, police officials said on Sunday.

The victim, identified as Meghana, had gone missing from Sira taluk on April 16.

What first appeared to be a routine missing person case soon turned into a chilling murder investigation after the police uncovered crucial evidence pointing towards her father, Thimmarayappa, a 48-year-old resident of Nimbemaradahalli village.

According to the police, Thimmarayappa and his wife, Nirmala, approached the Kallambella Police Station on April 17 and filed a complaint claiming that their daughter had disappeared the previous evening.

During the inquiry, officers questioned the family about Meghana’s mobile phone, to which Thimmarayappa reportedly responded that she had taken the device with her before going missing.

However, the investigation took a dramatic turn when police began analysing Meghana’s mobile phone records.

Officials discovered that an outgoing call had been made from her number nearly five days after the missing complaint had been registered, raising serious suspicion among investigators.

Police then traced the person who had received the call.

During questioning, the young man revealed that an elderly individual had approached him seeking help to remove a SIM card from a mobile phone.

Before removing the SIM, the man had allegedly made a brief test call to the youth’s number.

The information immediately alerted investigators, who suspected that someone was attempting to destroy evidence.

Acting on the lead, police examined CCTV footage from the area mentioned by the youth. According to officials, the footage clearly showed Thimmarayappa at the location where the SIM card was allegedly being disposed of.

As suspicion intensified, police summoned Thimmarayappa for further questioning. However, before he could be formally interrogated, he allegedly went absconding after realising that investigators had uncovered a major clue linking him to the case.

Soon after his disappearance, his wife filed yet another missing person complaint — this time regarding her husband. The police then launched a tracking operation, which eventually led to Thimmarayappa’s arrest.

During the investigation, officers uncovered the motive behind the alleged crime. Police said Meghana was reportedly in a relationship with one of her mother’s relatives, a match that her father strongly opposed.

Investigators revealed that Thimmarayappa wanted his daughter to marry a man chosen by him instead. When Meghana allegedly refused to accept his decision, tensions within the family escalated.

A police officer involved in the investigation stated that Thimmarayappa ultimately decided to kill his daughter after failing to convince her to end the relationship.

According to the police, on April 16, he allegedly took Meghana to a farmland under the pretext of going out with her. Once there, he is accused of attacking her and brutally killing her.

Officials further stated that after committing the crime, he allegedly buried Meghana’s body in the farmland before returning home and pretending that she had mysteriously disappeared.

To avoid suspicion, he later participated in filing the missing person complaint at the police station.

Following his arrest, police teams recovered and exhumed Meghana’s body from the burial site.

The body was sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and gather forensic evidence connected to the case.

The incident has once again highlighted the disturbing reality of crimes committed within families over personal relationships and marriage choices.

The tragic death of Meghana has shocked the local community, with many expressing grief that a young girl’s life was allegedly cut short over a dispute regarding her future and personal choice.
