Kashmir cannot become Pakistan… Farooq Abdulla

Kashmir will never become Pakistan, said National Conference President Farooq Abdullah, strongly condemning the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, which claimed the lives of a doctor and six migrant workers on Sunday (October 20). The attack took place at a construction site near an under-construction tunnel in the Sonamarg area.

Talking to reporters about the incident, Abdullah stated, “It is a very painful tragedy. Several poor labourers who came here to earn a living and send money to their families were mercilessly killed by these terrorists. Among the victims was also a doctor. What do these terrorists hope to gain? Do they think this will turn Kashmir into Pakistan?

How can there be talks? You kill our innocent people and then you call for talks. First stop the killings,” Abdullah said

He added, “If Pakistan genuinely wants friendship with India, they must stop this violence. Kashmir will never become Pakistan.

Let us live with dignity and focus on development. How long will you continue to bring suffering to us?

You started this in 1947, and in 75 years, Kashmir hasn’t become Pakistan—so how will it happen now?”

The former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister emphasised the need to eradicate poverty, stating that terrorism is not the solution. He stressed that it must come to an end, warning that the consequences would be severe if it continues.

After the incident, security forces cordoned off the area in Gaganger, Sonamarg, and Ganderbal and launched a search operation to neutralise the attackers.
