Kaushambi Horror: Son Shoots Father Dead After Heated Argument, Police Launch Manhunt

In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district, a young man allegedly shot his father dead following a heated argument at their home in the Dhata Road area of the district headquarters on Monday morning.

The accused fled the scene immediately after the crime, and police have launched an intensive search operation to trace him.

The deceased has been identified as 48-year-old Ramnaresh Manjhi, who worked as a sanitation employee.

According to police, he had previously served as a collectorate sweeper for nearly eight years and was currently posted at the District Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Sirathu.

Investigators said Ramnaresh lived with his wife Sudha Devi, daughter Bindu Devi, son Rahul and grandson Abhay.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that there had been frequent disagreements within the family over financial issues.

Police sources said the accused son had reportedly been demanding money from his father and was often reprimanded over his behaviour and failure to focus on his responsibilities.

According to officials, the confrontation escalated on Monday morning. During the argument, the accused allegedly lost his temper, picked up a firearm and opened fire on his father at close range.

The gunshot left Ramnaresh critically injured and created panic in the neighbourhood.

Hearing the sound of gunfire, family members and residents rushed to the spot.

The injured man was immediately taken to a nearby hospital and subsequently referred to Swarup Rani Nehru Hospital in Prayagraj because of the severity of his injuries.

Despite doctors’ efforts, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Police reached the scene soon after receiving information about the incident and initiated an investigation.

Senior officers inspected the crime scene, questioned family members and collected evidence. The victim’s body was later sent for post-mortem examination.

Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar said the accused son allegedly shot his father following a dispute and escaped after committing the crime.

He stated that police teams have been deployed to apprehend the accused and strict legal action will be taken against him.

The gruesome killing has left residents of the area stunned. Neighbours described Ramnaresh as a hardworking and soft-spoken man and expressed disbelief that a family dispute could culminate in such a brutal act.

The incident has once again highlighted the disturbing rise in violent crimes emerging from domestic conflicts and personal disputes.
