The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court has directed Director General of Police (UP) to form a Special Investigating (SIT) Team against SP Raibareily Abhishek Agrawal and find out allegations levelled against him by an elderly lady Gomti Misra.

The bench of Justice Vivek Chaudhary and Justice NK Jauhari has also directed the DGP to ensure that the SIT team members were senior to the SP in rank.

In her plea, the elderly lady has alleged that SP Raibareily got her young son Alakh Misra arrested on March 30 this year because he had refused to lend his taxi to the police officer.

Following the refusal the SP got her son allegedly arrested from Maurawan petrol pump and the police took her son to Kheero police station.

A day after this her son’s arrest was shown in a case of theft from Hindupur Village.

The court has also directed that the SIT report be submitted in two months.

The court has fixed July 3 as the date of next hearing.

Meanwhile, the high court order has shaken the police authorities as such cases are not isolated.

In reality police often allegedly implicates innocent persons in criminal cases and the accused in the absence of resources languish in different prisons for long periods even years.
