Among the 15 people who lost their lives in the devastating fire that swept through a commercial building in Lucknow on Monday was a young couple whose families had only recently begun preparing for their wedding.
What was supposed to be the beginning of a beautiful new chapter in their lives instead turned into an unimaginable tragedy that extinguished not only two promising lives but also countless dreams and aspirations.
Twenty-eight-year-old Neelesh Kumar and 27-year-old Anamika Samanta were looking forward to spending their lives together.
Their families had already given their consent to the relationship, and wedding preparations were gradually taking shape.
However, the massive fire changed everything within moments, leaving both families in profound grief and disbelief.
Families Had Just Finalised Marriage Plans
According to Neelesh’s elder brother, Abhishek Kumar, Anamika’s parents had travelled from Kolkata to Lucknow only a week earlier to formally meet Neelesh’s family and bless the couple’s relationship.
“Anamika’s parents visited our home and gave their consent and blessings for her marriage with my younger brother, Neelesh.
We were planning to travel to Kolkata next week to finalise the remaining wedding arrangements,” Abhishek said.
He added that the wedding had been scheduled for November this year, and both families had been eagerly looking forward to the celebrations.
Friendship at Work Blossomed Into Love
Neelesh and Anamika were both artists associated with Head Hopper Studios, a company specialising in 3D art production and game development.
The company’s office operated from the second floor of the building where the tragic fire broke out.
The two first met at the workplace while working on creative projects together. What initially began as a professional association gradually evolved into friendship, understanding and eventually a deep emotional relationship.
According to family members, Neelesh had been employed at the studio for nearly three years, and Anamika had joined the company around the same period.
Spending long hours together on assignments and creative projects brought them closer, and over time they decided to build a future together.
Two Families United by Happiness and Hope
Abhishek Kumar, who works as an architectural visualiser, said the family had become aware of their relationship some time ago.
“When we learned about their relationship, our family decided to establish contact with Anamika’s parents.
We invited them to Lucknow, and four members of her family, including her parents and brother, travelled from Kolkata to meet us,” he said.
During the visit, both families spent time together, discussed the future of the young couple and eventually agreed to the marriage.
Most of the arrangements had already been informally finalised.
For both households, the meeting symbolised happiness, acceptance and the promise of a new beginning.
Dreams Reduced to Ashes in a Matter of Hours
The two families, separated by more than a thousand kilometres and belonging to different cities, had come together because of the love shared by Neelesh and Anamika.
They had begun envisioning wedding celebrations, new relationships and a joyful future for the young couple.
However, the devastating fire shattered those hopes within a few tragic hours.
The incident has left both families mourning not only the untimely deaths of two young individuals but also grieving for the future they had carefully imagined for them.
The dreams of marriage, companionship and a shared life together ended abruptly in one of the most heartbreaking incidents to strike Lucknow in recent times.

सोमवार को लखनऊ में एक व्यावसायिक भवन में लगी भीषण आग में जान गंवाने वाले 15 लोगों में एक ऐसा युवा जोड़ा भी शामिल था, जिसके परिवार हाल ही में उनकी शादी की तैयारियों में जुटे थे। जिन दो जिंदगियों के लिए नया जीवन, नई उम्मीदें और नए रिश्तों का सफर शुरू होने वाला था, वह कुछ ही पलों में एक ऐसी त्रासदी का शिकार हो गया जिसने न केवल दो युवा जीवन छीन लिए, बल्कि दोनों परिवारों के असंख्य सपनों को भी राख में बदल दिया।
28 वर्षीय नीलेश कुमार और 27 वर्षीय अनामिका सामंता एक-दूसरे के साथ जीवन बिताने के सपने देख रहे थे। दोनों परिवार इस रिश्ते को अपनी स्वीकृति दे चुके थे और विवाह की तैयारियां भी धीरे-धीरे आकार लेने लगी थीं। लेकिन अचानक आई इस भयावह आग ने सब कुछ बदल दिया और पीछे छोड़ गई गहरा शोक, अविश्वास और कभी न भर पाने वाला खालीपन।
एक सप्ताह पहले ही तय हुई थीं शादी की तैयारियां
नीलेश के बड़े भाई अभिषेक कुमार के अनुसार, अनामिका के माता-पिता केवल एक सप्ताह पहले कोलकाता से लखनऊ आए थे, ताकि वे औपचारिक रूप से नीलेश के परिवार से मिल सकें और इस रिश्ते को अपनी सहमति और आशीर्वाद दे सकें।
अभिषेक ने कहा, “अनामिका के माता-पिता हमारे घर आए थे और उन्होंने अपनी बेटी की शादी मेरे छोटे भाई नीलेश के साथ करने की सहमति और आशीर्वाद दिया था। अगले सप्ताह हम कोलकाता जाने वाले थे, ताकि शादी से जुड़ी शेष तैयारियों को अंतिम रूप दिया जा सके।”
उन्होंने बताया कि विवाह इसी वर्ष नवंबर में प्रस्तावित था और दोनों परिवार बड़े उत्साह और खुशी के साथ उस दिन का इंतजार कर रहे थे।
दफ्तर की दोस्ती धीरे-धीरे प्रेम में बदल गई
नीलेश और अनामिका दोनों हेड हॉपर स्टूडियोज़ में कलाकार के रूप में कार्यरत थे। यह कंपनी थ्री-डी आर्ट प्रोडक्शन और गेम डेवलपमेंट के क्षेत्र में काम करती है। इसी कंपनी का स्टूडियो उस इमारत की दूसरी मंजिल पर संचालित होता था, जहां सोमवार को भीषण आग लग गई।
दोनों की पहली मुलाकात कार्यस्थल पर हुई थी। वे रचनात्मक परियोजनाओं पर साथ काम करते थे। जो रिश्ता शुरुआत में केवल पेशेवर परिचय तक सीमित था, वह धीरे-धीरे मित्रता, आपसी समझ और फिर गहरे भावनात्मक जुड़ाव में बदल गया।
परिवार के सदस्यों के अनुसार, नीलेश लगभग तीन वर्षों से कंपनी में कार्यरत थे और अनामिका भी लगभग उसी अवधि में वहां से जुड़ी थीं। लंबे समय तक साथ काम करते-करते दोनों एक-दूसरे के करीब आए और अंततः उन्होंने साथ जीवन बिताने का निर्णय लिया।
दो परिवारों को जोड़ रही थी खुशियों की डोर
पेशे से आर्किटेक्चरल विजुअलाइज़र अभिषेक कुमार ने बताया कि कुछ समय पहले ही परिवार को दोनों के रिश्ते के बारे में जानकारी मिली थी।
उन्होंने कहा, “जब हमें उनके रिश्ते के बारे में पता चला, तब हमने अनामिका के परिवार से संपर्क करने का निर्णय लिया। हमने उन्हें लखनऊ आने का निमंत्रण दिया। उनके परिवार के चार सदस्य, जिनमें उनके माता-पिता और भाई भी शामिल थे, हमसे मिलने कोलकाता से लखनऊ आए थे।”
इस मुलाकात के दौरान दोनों परिवारों ने साथ समय बिताया, भविष्य की योजनाओं पर चर्चा की और अंततः विवाह के लिए सहमति प्रदान कर दी। शादी की अधिकांश तैयारियां लगभग तय मानी जा रही थीं।
दोनों परिवारों के लिए यह मुलाकात नई शुरुआत, अपनापन और आने वाली खुशियों का प्रतीक बन गई थी।
कुछ घंटों में बिखर गए जीवन भर के सपने
एक हजार किलोमीटर से अधिक दूरी पर बसे दो परिवार अपने बच्चों के प्रेम के कारण एक-दूसरे के करीब आए थे। दोनों घरों में शादी की तैयारियों, नई रिश्तेदारियों और आने वाले उत्सवों को लेकर उत्साह का माहौल था।
