What Initially Appeared to Be an Accident Turns Into a Murder Investigation
What was first believed to be a tragic trekking accident at Lohagad Fort near Pune has now taken a shocking turn, with investigators alleging that the death of 26-year-old Ketan Agarwal was the result of a meticulously planned murder conspiracy.
Police claim that the conspiracy was allegedly orchestrated by Ketan’s fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary.
Both have been arrested as investigators piece together what they describe as a chilling sequence of events that culminated in the young businessman losing his life.
The Incident at Lohagad Fort
Ketan Agarwal, the son of well-known real-estate businessman Vishal Agarwal and a director in the family-owned property firm, had travelled to Lohagad Fort, situated around 50 kilometres from Pune, on June 18.
Later that day, his fiancée, Siya Goyal, informed the police that Ketan had accidentally slipped while trekking and plunged nearly 400 feet into a deep gorge while attempting to click photographs.
Following the recovery of his body, the police registered a case of accidental death and initiated routine inquiries.
However, Ketan’s family remained unconvinced by the circumstances surrounding the incident. Their doubts prompted a deeper investigation, which eventually uncovered what police now allege was a premeditated murder plot.
A Marriage That Was Meant to Be Grand
Ketan Agarwal was a resident of Gahunje in Pune district and belonged to a highly respected and financially established business family.
Besides actively participating in the family business, he held the position of director in the family’s real-estate company.
The Agarwal family had arranged his marriage with 20-year-old Siya Goyal. Siya belonged to a family engaged in the dry-fruits business.
She was pursuing studies in commerce and was also reportedly exploring entrepreneurial opportunities in the bakery sector.
The wedding was scheduled to take place later this year.
According to investigators, both families had enthusiastically begun elaborate preparations for the marriage ceremony.
A luxurious palace in Udaipur had reportedly already been booked to host the grand wedding celebrations.
A Secret Relationship and an Alleged Conspiracy
While both families were busy preparing for the forthcoming wedding, investigators say Ketan had unknowingly become part of a complicated and ultimately fatal love triangle.
Police allege that Siya Goyal was in a romantic relationship with 22-year-old Chetan Chaudhary. Interestingly, both families were associated with the dry-fruits trade.
According to investigators, Siya allegedly did not wish to marry Ketan despite being formally engaged to him.
“Our investigation has revealed that Siya and Chetan were in a relationship. Siya was engaged to Ketan, but she did not want to marry him.
Therefore, the two allegedly conspired to eliminate him,” Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill told the media.
The Alleged Murder Plot
According to the police investigation, Siya allegedly persuaded Ketan to visit Lohagad Fort on June 18.
Investigators claim that Chetan had already reached the fort before the couple arrived.
As Ketan and Siya made their way up the hill fort, police allege that Chetan followed them from behind.
The investigators further claim that when the trio reached an isolated point, Siya and Chetan allegedly pushed Ketan off the cliff, causing him to fall into the deep gorge below.
Police have arrested both accused and booked them on charges of murder and criminal conspiracy.
Passport Allegedly Hidden to Derail Bali Trip
The investigation has also revealed several developments that, according to police, indicate that the alleged conspiracy had been in motion for some time.
Earlier this month, Ketan and Siya had reportedly planned to travel to Bali for a pre-wedding photoshoot.
According to Superintendent of Police Gill, the couple had reached Mumbai airport and were preparing to board their flight. However, the trip had to be cancelled after Ketan’s passport suddenly went missing.
“In the course of our investigation, it has emerged that Siya allegedly concealed Ketan’s passport because she wanted to avoid travelling to Bali with him,” Gill said.
Police are now examining whether this incident formed part of the broader conspiracy.
Two Earlier Visits to Lohagad Under Investigation
Investigators have further claimed that June 18 was not the first occasion on which Siya had taken Ketan to Lohagad Fort.
According to police, she had allegedly persuaded him to visit the fort on two earlier occasions as well.
However, investigators believe that the alleged murder plan could not be carried out during those visits for reasons that are still being examined.
The police are now conducting a detailed investigation into the digital evidence, communication records and movements of the accused to establish the complete sequence of events and determine whether any other individuals had knowledge of the alleged conspiracy.

लोहगढ़ किले पर क्या हुआ था?
केतन अग्रवाल पुणे जिले के गहुंजे क्षेत्र के निवासी थे। वह प्रसिद्ध रियल एस्टेट कारोबारी विशाल अग्रवाल के पुत्र थे और परिवार की निर्माण एवं संपत्ति कंपनी में निदेशक के पद पर कार्यरत थे।
18 जून को केतन लोहगढ़ किले की यात्रा पर गए थे, जो पुणे से लगभग 50 किलोमीटर दूर स्थित है।
उसी दिन उनकी मंगेतर सिया गोयल ने पुलिस को सूचना दी कि किले पर ट्रेकिंग के दौरान तस्वीरें लेते समय केतन का संतुलन बिगड़ गया और वह लगभग 400 फीट गहरी खाई में गिर गए।
बाद में उनका शव बरामद किया गया और पुलिस ने प्रारंभिक रूप से आकस्मिक मृत्यु का मामला दर्ज कर जांच शुरू की।
हालांकि, केतन के परिवार को इस पूरी घटना पर संदेह था। उनके सवालों और शंकाओं ने पुलिस को मामले की गहराई से जांच करने के लिए प्रेरित किया, जिसके बाद कथित हत्या की साजिश की परतें खुलनी शुरू हुईं।
भव्य शादी की तैयारियां चल रही थीं
केतन अग्रवाल एक प्रतिष्ठित और आर्थिक रूप से संपन्न कारोबारी परिवार से ताल्लुक रखते थे। वह परिवार के रियल एस्टेट व्यवसाय में सक्रिय भूमिका निभा रहे थे और कंपनी के निदेशक भी थे।
उनके परिवार ने 20 वर्षीय सिया गोयल के साथ उनका विवाह तय किया था। सिया का परिवार सूखे मेवों के व्यापार से जुड़ा हुआ है। वह वाणिज्य की छात्रा थी और साथ ही बेकरी कारोबार में भी अपना भविष्य तलाशने की कोशिश कर रही थी।
दोनों का विवाह इसी वर्ष होने वाला था।
जांचकर्ताओं के अनुसार, दोनों परिवार इस शादी को लेकर बेहद उत्साहित थे और भव्य समारोह की तैयारियां भी बड़े स्तर पर शुरू हो चुकी थीं। बताया जा रहा है कि शादी के आयोजन के लिए उदयपुर के एक आलीशान महल की बुकिंग तक कर दी गई थी।
एक प्रेम संबंध और कथित हत्या की साजिश
जहां दोनों परिवार शादी की तैयारियों में व्यस्त थे, वहीं पुलिस का दावा है कि केतन अनजाने में एक जटिल प्रेम त्रिकोण का हिस्सा बन चुके थे।
जांच एजेंसियों के अनुसार, सिया गोयल का 22 वर्षीय चेतन चौधरी के साथ प्रेम संबंध था। उल्लेखनीय है कि चेतन का परिवार भी सूखे मेवों के कारोबार से जुड़ा हुआ है।
पुलिस का आरोप है कि सिया की सगाई भले ही केतन से हो गई थी, लेकिन वह उनसे विवाह नहीं करना चाहती थी।
पुणे ग्रामीण पुलिस अधीक्षक संदीप सिंह गिल ने कहा, “जांच में सामने आया है कि सिया और चेतन एक-दूसरे के साथ संबंध में थे। सिया की सगाई केतन से हुई थी, लेकिन वह उनसे शादी नहीं करना चाहती थी। इसी कारण दोनों ने कथित तौर पर उन्हें रास्ते से हटाने की साजिश रची।”
कथित हत्या की योजना कैसे बनाई गई
पुलिस का दावा है कि 18 जून को सिया ने ही केतन को लोहगढ़ किले पर जाने के लिए तैयार किया।
जांचकर्ताओं के अनुसार, चेतन पहले से ही वहां मौजूद था।
जब सिया और केतन किले की चढ़ाई कर रहे थे, तब चेतन कुछ दूरी पर उनका पीछा कर रहा था।
पुलिस का आरोप है कि जब वे एक अपेक्षाकृत सुनसान स्थान पर पहुंचे, तब सिया और चेतन ने कथित रूप से केतन को चट्टान से नीचे धक्का दे दिया, जिससे वह गहरी खाई में जा गिरे।
पुलिस ने दोनों आरोपियों को गिरफ्तार कर उनके खिलाफ हत्या और आपराधिक षड्यंत्र की धाराओं के तहत मामला दर्ज किया है।
बाली यात्रा रोकने के लिए कथित तौर पर छिपाया गया पासपोर्ट
जांच में ऐसे कई तथ्य भी सामने आए हैं, जिनसे संकेत मिलता है कि कथित साजिश काफी समय पहले से रची जा रही थी।
इस महीने की शुरुआत में केतन और सिया की बाली जाने की योजना थी, जहां उनका प्री-वेडिंग फोटोशूट होना था।
पुलिस अधीक्षक संदीप सिंह गिल के अनुसार, दोनों मुंबई हवाई अड्डे तक पहुंच गए थे और यात्रा की तैयारी पूरी कर चुके थे, लेकिन अचानक केतन का पासपोर्ट गायब हो गया, जिसके कारण उन्हें वापस लौटना पड़ा।
गिल ने कहा, “जांच में यह सामने आया है कि सिया ने कथित रूप से केतन का पासपोर्ट छिपा दिया था क्योंकि वह उनके साथ बाली नहीं जाना चाहती थी।”
पुलिस अब यह भी जांच कर रही है कि क्या यह घटना भी व्यापक साजिश का हिस्सा थी।
इससे पहले भी दो बार ले जाया गया था लोहगढ़ किला
जांच एजेंसियों का यह भी दावा है कि 18 जून पहली बार नहीं था जब सिया केतन को लोहगढ़ किले पर लेकर गई थी।
पुलिस के अनुसार, उसने इससे पहले भी दो बार केतन को वहां जाने के लिए राजी किया था।
हालांकि, जांचकर्ताओं का मानना है कि उन दोनों मौकों पर कथित योजना किसी कारणवश सफल नहीं हो सकी।
अब पुलिस आरोपियों के डिजिटल रिकॉर्ड, फोन कॉल, संदेशों और गतिविधियों का विस्तृत विश्लेषण कर रही है ताकि पूरे घटनाक्रम की सटीक कड़ियों को जोड़ा जा सके और यह पता लगाया जा सके कि इस कथित साजिश की जानकारी किसी अन्य व्यक्ति को भी थी या नहीं।
