Meerut Police To Record Statements Of Muskan And Sahil
The Meerut Police are set to record the statements of Muskaan, the wife of the deceased Saurabh, and her alleged lover Sahil in jail on Monday. The focus of the inquiry will be their passports and other critical details related to the ongoing murder investigation. Both were arrested in connection with the brutal killing of Saurabh, whose body was discovered hidden inside a drum.
Authorities plan to file a petition in court seeking police remand for Muskaan and Sahil, with sources indicating that a five-day remand period may be requested.
As part of their investigative process, the police are expected to highlight the medication given to Saurabh before his murder. Additionally, they intend to seek court approval to recreate the crime scene to better understand the sequence of events.
The gruesome murder has sent shockwaves through the district. According to the post-mortem report, Muskaan allegedly stabbed Saurabh three times in the chest before delivering a fatal blow to his heart. The report further details the horrifying nature of the crime—Saurabh’s throat was slit, his palms severed, and his body was dismembered into four pieces to fit inside a drum, which was then sealed with cement.
Meerut Jail’s Senior Superintendent, Veeresh Raj Sharma, has disclosed that both Muskaan and Sahil appear to be struggling with drug addiction. They have been provided with medication and are expected to be transferred to a de-addiction centre.
Sharma also revealed that Muskaan has requested a government-appointed lawyer, claiming that her family is unwilling to support her legal defense. A request has been submitted to the court for legal assistance.
There were initial reports suggesting that the couple refused food after their arrest, but Sharma clarified that they have begun eating following medication. He estimated that their withdrawal symptoms should subside within 15 days. While their emotional state remains unclear, both appear visibly disturbed.
To ensure jail security, authorities have placed them under CCTV surveillance and are taking precautions to prevent any disruptions from other inmates.
The upcoming statement recording and remand hearing will be crucial in piecing together the events leading to Saurabh’s murder. The police aim to gather more evidence and build a strong case against the accused couple as the investigation progresses.
