Number of Universities and Airports in India Has Doubled, Says PM Modi in Paris
Paris: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed members of the Indian community in Paris and highlighted India’s rapid transformation over the past decade.
He said that both the number of airports and universities in the country has doubled, reflecting the scale and pace of India’s development journey.
Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister said that India is increasingly emerging as a trusted and reliable partner for the world. According to him, the country is progressing on the pillars of innovation, stability and inclusive growth, while strengthening global supply chains and promoting sustainable development.
Modi noted that India’s growth story is inspiring confidence across the world and that global investors are looking at the country with renewed optimism.
He remarked that economic advancement was once largely dependent on the availability of natural resources, but in today’s era, human capital and talent have become equally important drivers of progress.
Over 25 Crore People Lifted Out of Poverty
The Prime Minister said that India has made remarkable strides in social and economic development. Referring to various welfare initiatives, he stated that more than 25 crore people have moved out of poverty during the past 12 years, calling it one of the most significant achievements of modern India.
He further pointed out that the country has witnessed unprecedented expansion in infrastructure, adding that the number of medical colleges has increased nearly 100 times, significantly improving access to healthcare and higher education.
UPI Has Given India a Global Digital Identity
Modi said that the success of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has given India a distinct identity in the global digital economy.
He noted that the world now recognises India as a leader in digital innovation and that many countries are exploring ways to adopt UPI-like payment systems.
He also referred to discussions held during the ‘India-France CEO Forum’ and the VivaTech conference in Paris, where India’s digital transformation and technological capabilities attracted considerable interest.
Meeting With Industrial Leaders
During his visit, the Prime Minister met several business leaders and held discussions on investment opportunities and plans for expanding commercial cooperation between India and France.
The talks focused on areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), advanced technologies and innovation-driven industries.
Pride in the Indian Community
Following the conclusion of the G7 Summit in France, Prime Minister Modi also interacted with members of the Indian diaspora in Paris.
He expressed his appreciation for the achievements and contributions of Indians living abroad and said that the Indian community continues to strengthen ties between India and France through its efforts and accomplishments.
A light-hearted moment also drew attention when French President Emmanuel Macron bid farewell to Prime Minister Modi in Hindi, highlighting the warmth and growing friendship between the two nations.

पेरिस: प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने गुरुवार को पेरिस में भारतीय समुदाय को संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि पिछले एक दशक में भारत ने तेज़ी से विकास किया है और आज देश में हवाई अड्डों तथा विश्वविद्यालयों की संख्या दोगुनी हो चुकी है। उन्होंने कहा कि यह उपलब्धि भारत की परिवर्तनकारी विकास यात्रा का प्रमाण है।
प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि भारत आज दुनिया के लिए एक विश्वसनीय और भरोसेमंद साझेदार के रूप में उभर रहा है। नवाचार, स्थिरता और समावेशी विकास के आधार पर देश निरंतर आगे बढ़ रहा है तथा वैश्विक आपूर्ति श्रृंखला और सतत विकास को नई दिशा दे रहा है।
उन्होंने कहा कि भारत की विकास गाथा ने पूरी दुनिया का ध्यान आकर्षित किया है और वैश्विक निवेशकों का देश के प्रति विश्वास लगातार बढ़ रहा है। प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि एक समय आर्थिक प्रगति मुख्य रूप से प्राकृतिक संसाधनों पर निर्भर मानी जाती थी, लेकिन आज के दौर में मानव संसाधन और प्रतिभा विकास की सबसे बड़ी शक्ति बन चुके हैं।
पिछले 12 वर्षों में 25 करोड़ से अधिक लोग गरीबी से बाहर आए
प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि भारत ने सामाजिक और आर्थिक क्षेत्र में उल्लेखनीय उपलब्धियाँ हासिल की हैं। उन्होंने बताया कि पिछले 12 वर्षों में 25 करोड़ से अधिक लोग गरीबी से बाहर निकले हैं, जो आधुनिक भारत की सबसे महत्वपूर्ण उपलब्धियों में से एक है।
उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि देश में बुनियादी ढांचे का अभूतपूर्व विस्तार हुआ है और मेडिकल कॉलेजों की संख्या में लगभग 100 गुना वृद्धि दर्ज की गई है, जिससे स्वास्थ्य और उच्च शिक्षा तक पहुंच और अधिक सुलभ हुई है।
यूपीआई ने भारत को दी वैश्विक डिजिटल पहचान
प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि यूनिफाइड पेमेंट्स इंटरफेस (यूपीआई) ने भारत को वैश्विक डिजिटल अर्थव्यवस्था में एक अलग पहचान दिलाई है। आज दुनिया भारत को डिजिटल नवाचार के अग्रणी देशों में गिनती है और कई देश यूपीआई जैसी भुगतान प्रणाली अपनाने में रुचि दिखा रहे हैं।
उन्होंने पेरिस में आयोजित ‘भारत-फ्रांस सीईओ फोरम’ और ‘विवाटेक सम्मेलन’ का भी उल्लेख किया, जहां भारत की डिजिटल प्रगति और तकनीकी क्षमताओं को व्यापक सराहना मिली।
उद्योग जगत के प्रतिनिधियों से की मुलाकात
फ्रांस यात्रा के दौरान प्रधानमंत्री ने कई उद्योगपतियों और कारोबारी नेताओं से मुलाकात की। इस दौरान भारत और फ्रांस के बीच निवेश, व्यापार विस्तार और तकनीकी सहयोग की संभावनाओं पर चर्चा हुई। बातचीत का केंद्र कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्ता (एआई), उन्नत प्रौद्योगिकी और नवाचार आधारित उद्योग रहे।
भारतीय समुदाय पर जताया गर्व
जी-7 शिखर सम्मेलन के बाद प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने पेरिस में भारतीय समुदाय के लोगों से भी मुलाकात की। उन्होंने प्रवासी भारतीयों की उपलब्धियों और योगदान की सराहना करते हुए कहा कि भारतीय समुदाय अपने प्रयासों और सफलताओं के माध्यम से भारत और फ्रांस के संबंधों को और मजबूत बना रहा है।
इस दौरान एक आत्मीय क्षण तब देखने को मिला जब फ्रांस के राष्ट्रपति इमैनुएल मैक्रों ने प्रधानमंत्री मोदी को हिंदी में विदाई दी, जिसने दोनों देशों के बीच बढ़ती मित्रता और आपसी विश्वास को रेखांकित किया।
