Panic in Prayagraj’s Soraon as Rabid Dog Attacks Over 20 People, Several Critically Injured
Fear gripped the Soraon area of Prayagraj on Thursday morning after a suspected rabid dog went on a violent rampage, attacking and injuring more than 20 people across several localities.
The incident, which began near Girdharpur village and spread towards the busy Soraon market and crossroads, left residents terrified as the animal bit anyone who came in its path before disappearing from the area.
According to residents, the dog first emerged from the direction of Girdharpur village and started attacking passersby indiscriminately.

As it moved towards the Soraon market area, it continued to bite people along the way, creating chaos and panic in the locality. Witnesses said the attacks happened so suddenly that many victims were unable to protect themselves.
The injured, who belong to different nearby villages and had come to Soraon for routine work, were rushed to the Soraon Community Health Centre.
Doctors administered anti-rabies injections and provided emergency treatment before referring seriously injured patients to Tej Bahadur Sapru Hospital, also known as Bailey Hospital, for advanced medical care.
Officials said the condition of at least half a dozen victims remains critical.
Following the attacks, villagers armed with sticks and rods launched a search operation to locate the dog, but it had not been traced till late afternoon.
The incident triggered widespread fear in the market area, with many shopkeepers and locals avoiding public places due to concerns of another attack.
The horrifying episode left the entire Soraon market shaken, with residents demanding urgent action from local authorities to prevent further danger.

Authorities are expected to intensify efforts to trace the animal and ensure the safety of residents in the affected areas.
