Prayagraj Innovation: MNNIT Develops AI-Powered Portable Cardiac Device to Detect Heart Risks Early

Prayagraj: Heart diseases often strike without warning, and the absence of early detection can make them life-threatening.

In a promising step toward preventive healthcare, researchers at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology have developed a smart, portable device designed to continuously monitor heart health and alert users to potential risks well in advance.

Created by research scholar Kunwar Kant Patel under the guidance of Prof Basant Kumar, the device has been developed within the institute’s incubated startup, Lifeline eMedTech.

This innovative system brings advanced cardiac monitoring technology closer to everyday users, making it practical for home use.

What sets this device apart is its ability to measure more than 15 key health parameters simultaneously.

These include critical indicators such as blood sugar levels, cholesterol, heart rate, blood pressure, and body mass index (BMI).

In addition, it features a 12-lead ECG system capable of recording heart activity and delivering an analysis in just 10 seconds—something typically associated with clinical settings.

The device is seamlessly integrated with an Android mobile application, ensuring ease of use even for individuals without technical expertise.

At its core lies an artificial intelligence-driven system that analyzes the collected data and generates a “risk score,” indicating the likelihood of a cardiac event such as a heart attack.

If any abnormality or risk is detected, the system immediately sends an alert, enabling timely intervention.

Beyond early detection, this innovation has the potential to significantly reduce the need for frequent hospital visits.

Looking ahead, the developers aim to integrate the device with telemedicine platforms and cloud-based systems, allowing doctors to remotely monitor patients’ conditions in real time.

Overall, this breakthrough represents a meaningful stride toward making healthcare more affordable, accessible, and proactive—empowering individuals to take charge of their heart health from the comfort of their homes.
